Will Pawlenty Become More Popular with Media?

by Lisa Graas, editor --

A funny thing happened on the way to the Twitterverse this morning. A report from the AP gave credence to a prediction that I made last night.

As you all know, the news that a man whose sentence was commuted by Governor Mike Huckabee went on to kill four police officers has been damaging to the governor in regard to prospects for 2012. As the news reports, blog postings and tweets rolled in on this story, it became clear to me that the media has pretty much written him off as a viable candidate. What makes this different from the media onslaught against Palin is that the story is getting so much traction with Huckabee's base.

When you couple this with the fact that so many in the mainstream media despise Sarah Palin, it dawned on me that they would be looking for someone to fill the void Huckabee may leave among those of his supporters who will be looking for an alternative. It's pretty clear that most of Huck's supporters who abandon him over this would naturally gravitate to the Palin camp. Certainly, the liberal media doesn't want this to happen. As I considered whom they might start pushing to fill the void, I finally settled on Tim Pawlenty.

You can see the tweet where I predicted this move here.

Lo and behold, this morning, I saw this report on Tim Pawlenty from the AP. Note the first sentence:
Gov. Tim Pawlenty can't see Russia from his house.

Pathetic. And sooo predictable.
