Sarah Palin: A Time to Unite

By Adrienne Ross - www.motivationtruth.com

After Dede Scozzafava suspended her campaign today for the New York 23rd Congressional District, due in part to Governor Palin's endorsement of Doug Hoffman, the governor issued this statement via Facebook:

A Time to Unite

I want to personally thank Republican Dede Scozzafava for acting so selflessly today in the NY District 23 race. Now it's time to cross the finish line with Doug Hoffman so that he can get to work for District 23 and the rest of America.

With Congress poised to overhaul one-sixth of our economy with so-called health care “reform” (which is really a government takeover of health care) and with plans to enact a cap-and-tax bill just as our economy struggles to recover, Doug Hoffman will be a voice for fiscal responsibility and common sense in Washington.

We need candidates like Doug now more than ever. In these final days of the campaign, it's vital that Doug continue to receive the enthusiastic support of those who want to bring common sense to Washington. Let’s help make it happen! You can help Doug by visiting his official website today and offering your support: https://www.doughoffmanforcongress.com/donate3.html

Palin's Principles Prevail as Scozzafava Steps Aside

By Adrienne Ross - www.motivationtruth.com

Dede Scozzafava, Republican Candidate for the NY 23rd Congressional District, has now withdrawn from the race, as reported first by Robert Stacy McCain.

As you recall, Monday I posted an article called "Sarah Palin: Principles Over Party? In a New York Minute!" I discussed the fact that Scozzafava was not a candidate representing true conservative values, which is why Sarah Palin endorsed Conservative-Party candidate Doug Hoffman. Governor Palin chose principles over party. Others, including Fred Thompson, Rick Santorum, and Tim Pawlenty also made that choice, while Newt Gingrich chose to endorse Scozzafava, offering lame excuses, and Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee chose to say nothing at all.

This is what sets people like Sarah Palin apart from other politicians. Palin's endorsement created a stir, as everything she says always does. Gingrich said that as an outsider Palin and others had no right to go against the wishes of the GOP in New York who chose the candidate they wanted. Other talking-heads said that Hoffman's running on the Conservative ticket would only split the vote and ensure a victory for Democrat Bill Owens; to these confused souls, Palin would say this, as she wrote in her endorsement note on Facebook:

Unfortunately, the Republican Party today has decided to choose a candidate who more than blurs the lines, and there is no real difference between the Democrat and the Republican in this race.

Somehow the talking-heads have missed that point.

Sarah has said time and again that Americans are tired of politics as usual. Conservatives are looking for people who will stand for something. We're seeking out those who don't sell out principles by endorsing someone who is the antithesis of what we are supposed to represent. And we are searching for leaders who don't go hide, refusing to say anything at all. We want people who will do what Governor Palin does: lay it all on the line and call it as she sees it.

Once again, she was right. She had no way of knowing the outcome; she merely acted on principles.

The race is not over. Election Day is Tuesday, and it'll be Hoffman vs. Owens. That still has to play out, but it was clear that Scozzafava was not going to win, so she pulled out, leaving a true conservative candidate in Hoffman. Sarah Palin's endorsement was one of a few important ones, but it seems to be the one that changed the face of the race. She created a shift for Hoffman--in support and finances--and she didn't wait until Hoffman had surpassed Scozzafava to do it or wait until Scozzafava backed out. Compare that to Newt Gingrich and Mike Huckabee who have now, just today, endorsed Hoffman.

Some so-called "experts" say Sarah Palin has no future in national politics and doesn't have the political savvy to be a serious force on the world stage. Well, for someone who's supposed to be the least of these, she sure is out in front, while people like Newt Gingrich and Mike Huckabee follow her lead.

Updated with Video - The Game Changer by Sarah Palin

By Adrienne Ross - www.motivationtruth.com

Sarah Palin urges via Facebook:

Mark my words - tomorrow is the game changer! Tune in to hear common sense solutions that bury the false accusations that conscientious members of Congress have no solutions to meet America's health care challenges.

If you're like me, shaking your head wondering why all the miscommunication between Washington and the American people who have been saying, "Please hear what we're saying about our desire for health care reform," then tomorrow will be a refreshing time of clarity for all.

All Americans, and especially colleagues of House Republican Leader John Boehner: please listen to tomorrow's weekly GOP national address. Rep. Boehner will highlight a common sense alternative to Speaker Pelosi's 1,990-page government takeover of health care. I urge you to watch for it. For a preview, go to: http://HealthCare.GOP.gov

You'll hear solutions. You'll hear of real choices based on America's proven free-market principles. You'll know once and for all what the GOP and Independents have been saying all along about alternatives to another big government take over. After tomorrow, you'll know that accusations against the GOP and Independents for not providing solutions are false. Those claims are bogus. There are alternatives. Tune in to Rep. Boehner's address tomorrow to hear them.

I look forward to the game changer!

- Sarah Palin

Update: Watch House Republican Leader John Boehner's address below.

I have heard President Obama and other Democrat legislators state many times that the GOP has only sought to block reform and has offered no solutions. As the governor stated--and as you see in this address--that is completely false.

The First Things First Mandate

By Adrienne Ross - www.motivationtruth.com

Before I get into the subject of this post, let me stop and warn those who don't like to mix faith into, well, anything really, that this post does go down that road. I pray that you are totally comfortable with God, His place within our nation, and the urgency to seek Him at this time.

I was reminded over the last couple days of the battle that so many of us are engaged in. People today are doing their part--no matter how small it may seem--for the future of America. Clearly, we are living in a time that seems stressful and overwhelming, yet it's also one of the most exciting times in our history. I say that because people who had never done anything before, maybe never even cared before, are standing up and speaking out. People have realized that this is not someone else's country, but it's their country and they have to rally the change they want to see. Like never before, housewives, businessmen, actors, and teachers, to name a few, are figuring out what they can do to make a difference. They're going to TEA parties and knocking doors for candidates. They're attending town halls and calling their legislators. They're starting to blog and meeting with like-minded people. The bottom line is they are feeling the urgency of the hour. They are sensing a desperation and are discerning that it's not enough to want more; they have to do more.

I agree. I, too, am trying to do my part to make a difference, to be a voice, to take a stand. But sometimes when we discern a problem, we miss the root of that problem. Not discerning that root is costly because it often causes us to bypass the first things first mandate.

In just the last two days, I've come to understand deeper what we're dealing with. I sense within me that we are in the heat of a major battle, but it's not a battle based solely in a "what-can-I-do?" movement. Yes, we must do. God forbid we do nothing. But I'm sensing the depth of this battle we are engaged in--and it's a spiritual battle. It's a fight for the hearts and minds of people. It's a fight for God's plan for America and Americans, which is under attack. I know, I know, some people would prefer to keep God out of it. That's part of the problem. God cannot be kept out of anything without disaster ensuing!

In the midst of our blogging, our tea partying, and our rallying, God help us to understand that apart from Him we can do nothing. And when hell begins to break loose, as it seems to have done this week, we must understand what is going on--and we cannot have that understanding apart from Him. When we act apart from Him, we go off half-cocked trying to deal with every situation in our own strength, by our own means, and through our own wisdom. And the result of that? We get our own results. This may feel good, look good, and smell good for the moment, but it equals zero in the end.

I have, in the last couple days, seen people willing to embrace rumors rather than believe the best. I have seen people choose to quit rather than stand firm--simply because seeds of doubt were placed within them. I have seen people turn those doubts into accusation, insult, and all-out campaigning for others to join them in their deception. I have experienced mounting anger myself as I have watched it all unfold.

But last night God reminded me of what we're dealing with. God does have a plan. However, His plan, as it draws closer and closer, is always met with opposition. Such opposition involves the very things I've mentioned: deception, severing of relationships, slander. It happens without fail, yet so often we fall into the same habit of responding in the flesh rather than walking in the Spirit. The former leads to frustration. The latter brings added wisdom and an understanding of what is really going on. It brings vision of the bigger picture and refocusing on what we've truly been called to do: intercede, walk by faith, and battle in the Spirit.

This message is urgent because the battle is intensifying, as many who are spiritually sensitive to what is going on will tell you.

Love of nation must be accompanied by dependency on God. America needs that, our leaders need that, and our future depends on that. Any actions taken, no matter how noble, are fruitless without our being "one nation under God."

Many of us have found ourselves disappointed with politics and politicians, wondering where are those who are supposed to serve for the right reasons and do the right things. They may be few and far between, but they do exist. Let's not be deceived. Those who have sacrificed and served in some way, those who paid a price for loving their nation and speaking up for her, those who have been called for this time are also the ones on whom the maligners, the defamers, and the mud-throwers have declared open season. They are those whose names and reputations have been given a beating by those who make a living feasting off them. They are those we need to be praying for. Sarah Palin is one of those people. I support her because she is one of those. And let me make it clear: Those, like Sarah, who have that call carry the weight of that call. Because they are at the center of the battle, they bear a burden most of us will never understand, much less experience ourselves.

Understand, the support of those who have committed themselves to answering God's call is not a fan club or a rock concert. It's spiritual warfare, and though we get out there and defend, and blog, and everything else we do, we must battle first on our knees. First things first. It's necessary, it's serious, it's crucial--and it's NOW.

UPDATED: Sarah, Leave the Light On: A Post by Conservative Girl with a Voice

(On a side note: I will be a guest TODAY, Saturday, on Orlando's a.m. 660 WORL on the weekly Tea Party Radio Show @teapartyradio at 1:30 PST, 4:30 EST. I will be discussing Sarah's endorsement of Conservative Party Candidate Doug Hoffman in the NY District 23 Race. Listen online http://www.660worl.townhall.com. Thanks!!!)

Was I in outer space when Katie Couric became an expert on the Republican Party? Uh, I don't think so. After basically setting out to destroy Sarah Palin and using her news time to criticize the GOP, Katie Couric seems to think she suddenly is a know-it-all when it comes to the Grand Old Party. Huh? Although Katie thinks she knows best, it is clear she has a set agenda of wanting to take down the Republican Party, not help it. A couple days ago on her newscast, little Miss Couric said the following about the Republican Party (courtesy of Mark Finkelstein of NewsBusters.org):

"As Politico reported, there's growing concern among some GOP leaders that controversial commentators and far-right conservatives have hijacked the message. People like Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin appeal to the base - and you certainly need that base to win elections. But in an age when 42 percent of Americans call themselves Independents - you can't win with just the base, either.. . . Before the 2010 midterm elections roll around, Republicans need to get the focus back onto the Big Tent where all are welcome and off the sideshows that are popping up along the party's fringe."

During the campaign, did Katie focus too much on ripping Sarah to shreds that she forgot the Republican Party had its most liberal presidential candidate of all time? While it is important that individuals have the freedom to join the party of their choice, the party NEED NOT change its values and core principles. Would you change parking spaces after parking just because someone asks you too so they can take your space? Of course not, but it seems as if many in the Republican Party agree with Couric on this whole "Big Tent" theory.

What's so wrong with holding strong to your values? As I noted the other day, the Republican Party finds itself out in the wilderness as it searches for its identity. Why are they searching when the Republican Party just needs to find its way back home? The Republican Party needs to be restored and become the party it once was under Ronald Reagan. The party of fiscal conservatism, personal responsibility, strong national defense and tax cuts. Although you and I see this "coming home" analogy as a practical one, there are many looking to the media thinking they know what's best. It is no secret that the liberal msm are out to destroy the GOP. Couric is doing what her colleagues do on a daily basis. She is using the idea that the Republican Party needs to expand as a way to split the party.

Isn't it funny that the liberal msm always talks about the Republican Party's need to become more tolerant and accepting, yet they never do the same with the Democratic Party? Where are the journalists to call the donkeys out- asking questions like: "Doesn't the Democratic Party need to tighten the belt and become a little more moderate?" Nope, don't hear questions like that now do you.... Instead, you hear the msm target the Blue Dogs for daring to speak out against the proposed Health Care Plan. You hear people like Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann chastising the Blue Dogs for daring to question the liberal Democrats proposed agenda. You hear these same journalists call Sarah and Rush dangerous because they are conservative. Yeah, so much for the First Amendment, acceptance and tolerance.

In order for the Republican Party to have any success in the future, it needs to do the exact opposite of what the Katie Courics are saying. The Republican Party needs more candidates like Sarah and Jim DeMint, and less candidates like Olympia Snowe. While I greatly admire John McCain and his great service to our country, he was a weak candidate, plain and simple. The media pushed for his candidacy because they knew this. Journalists and liberals are scared of the Sarah and Rush's of the GOP. They are scared because they know a conservative movement is brewing. Glenn Beck made an excellent point last night on the O'Reilly Factor. Glenn believes Sarah may form a new third party based upon conservatism. While many are skeptical about the success a third party may have, Beck believes there are many individuals out there who are sick and tired of the politics as usual and the blame game that is currently going on in Washington D.C. A year ago, I probably would have agreed with the skeptics, but not anymore. Look at how rapidly the tea party movement has grown. This grassroots movement has taken the country by storm, and this movement isn't going anywhere. The New York District 23 race is proof of this.

"Mainstreet U.S.A." folks from all walks of life gather at tea parties to vent and voice their outrage because they feel their politicians don't listen to them anymore. The conservative movement is of this same breed. Like the tea party wildfire that is spreading rapidly, so is the conservative movement. I believe the 2010 elections are crucial to the conservative movement as a whole. Is the Republican Party going to wake up and return home to the values that made it great, or is this party going to remain out in the wilderness forcing its conservative and independent members to look for homes elsewhere? While this is yet to be seen, one thing remains true: It is important now more than ever to stand up and speak out in favor of the conservative values we hold most dear.

Sarah is the future of the Republican Party whether she chooses to run for president or not. I sincerely hope she chooses the first option because she is a conservative candidate who sticks to her values no matter where the tide carries her. She is living proof of what a true conservative candidate looks like! Like Ronald Reagan before her, Sarah remains vigilant to the conservative cause proving that, unlike so many other Republicans, she IS not out in the wilderness, but already home. Until the others find their way, she will continue to leave the porch light on, hoping they realize what she already knows: The conservative cause is worth fighting for.

BREAKING NEWS UPDATE IN NY 23 RACE:
As on this morning, Rino Republican candidate, Dede Scozzafava has, in fact, dropped out of the race. Here is her statement, which was published in the Watertown Daily Times:

"In recent days, polls have indicated that my chances of winning this election are not as strong as we would like them to be.... The reality that I've come to accept is that in today's political arena, you must be able to back up your message with money -- and as I've been outspent on both sides, I've been unable to effectively address many of the charges that have been made about my record...."

This is a HUGE win for both the conservative and tea party movements. This also illustrates the power of the barracuda herself, Sarah Palin. In endorsing Doug Hoffman, Sarah chose values over party. Whereas the likes of Newt Gingrich chose party, leaving him on the losing end of the stick. In sticking with values over party, Sarah further illustrates that she's more of a man than the Newts, Mitts and Mikes will ever be. AMEN TO THAT!!! The Final Word on the Palin in Des Moines “Controversy”

palin-carson-CA

By Shane Vander Hart, Caffeinated Thoughts

She’s not coming, but would like to in the future.  She’d also come for free.  Bryan English at the Iowa Family Policy Center just sent the following press release:

10/30/09 Pleasant Hill, IA - Iowa Family Policy Center ACTION received word this morning that Governor Sarah Palin is unable to accept our speaking invitation due to her book tour contractual commitments, which cannot be changed.

We extended our invitation knowing she would be in the middle of her book tour and the chances of her being able to accept any invitations were extremely slim.

She has asked if she could speak at a future mutually agreeable date. She will not accept any fees for her appearance.

That seems to put the controversy created by Politico’s Jonathan Martin yesterday to bed.  Speaking of the asinine article that Jonathan Martin wrote, Emily Geiger at The Iowa Republican notes some background on those who talked with Jonathan Martin:

And, Jonny had lots of completely impartial sources who were happy to comment and help him “cobble together” an eleven-hundred word story.

Oh, those sources… they were so shocked at this (unconfirmed) unprecedented occurrence. How dare political operatives get paid obscene amounts of money. And speaking of politicos getting paid obscene amounts of money, Jonny went to a very knowledgeable source on that particular issue, Ed Failor, Jr., of Iowans for Tax Relief fame.

Hey Ed, how much were you paid by the Pataki campaign only to end up submarining it when you had a change of heart and decided McCain was your man? Oh well, at least Ed refrained from calling Palin a jackbooted Nazi, so he did show some self-restraint.

Jonny also got some inside info from David Kochel, who was a top aide to former (and future) presidential candidate, Mitt Romney.

Hey Dave, didn’t I just read a story about how Mitt Romney tried to buy off the Iowa Christian Alliance? I heard you helped facilitate that little scheme. And somehow you are shocked at the thought of a well-known political figure (who very likely isn’t running for president) getting paid a speaker’s fee for (gasp) a public speaking appearance?

Another of Jonny’s sources was the Iowa Christian Alliance’s Steve Scheffler, who is totally impartial given that he runs a competing organization which is dealing with its own scandal.

And then we’ve got Tim Albrecht quoted. He was the Iowa spokesman for Romney’s 2008 caucus campaign.

Hmmm… Between Kochel and Albrecht, this sounds suspiciously like yet another case of former Romney staffers “going rogue” and badmouthing their meal ticket’s perceived competition.

I’m sure that it was completely coincidental.

Updates can be found here.

PC My A** : A Post by Conservative Girl with a Voice

Peter Gadiel's son, James, was killed in the worst attack ever to hit American soil. 9/11 will forever be ingrained in my mind. I will never forget the lives lost that day and the countless sacrifices so many brave men and women made that day. Perhaps the best way to remember those who lost their lives would to be to rebuild the towers. While this is my personal opinion, I wanted to write this random thought to express my anger in the way Kent, Connecticut, is treating Mr. Gadiel. Why wouldn't we want to honor James who was only 23 when he died? This is a young man who had a full life in front of him. He had a successful career working on the 103rd floor of the North Tower of the Trade Center for Cantor Fitzgerald. Not only is it important to honor him and the other victims, but it also important that we do so to remind people that they must never forget.

While the city is all for a memorial for James, the city is against the following wording that Peter Gadiel wants placed on the plaque: "Murdered by Muslim terrorists." The city doesn't want to offend Muslim families thus its reason for not wanting the above wording. I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with the city. Mr. Gadiel is in no way implying that all Muslims are bad people. On the contrary, he is saying Muslim terrorists are. We saw what they did to our country on 9/11; why can't the city allow this man to honor his son? Mr. Gadiel is so right in his assessment on this situation courtesy of Fox News.com:

"I think it's important, because I think there's a nationwide effort to suppress the identity of the people who were involved in the attacks."

It is clear that there is a huge double standard developing here. Just recently, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) had no problem putting what they described as "right-wing extremists" on a watch list. In doing so, they unfairly targeted individuals whom they felt would harm the president, such as those who oppose abortion and practice their Second-Amendment right. What the DHS did is basically target a specific group of people without any just cause. The administration and DHS essentially were targeting white males. I'm not afraid to imply this because we all heard it discussed on the news. They wanted to compare people who serve in our military and practice their Second Amendment right to Timothy McVeigh. How dare they? While the liberal left saw nothing wrong with this, now they are just sitting back and ignoring or disagreeing with a father for the wording he wants placed on his son's memorial plaque? These individuals were not worried about being politically correct when speaking of so-called "right-wing extremists," but now, all of a sudden, they want to be politically correct? This is not only insane, but downright hypocritical.

Mr. Gadiel made it clear that it was "Muslim terrorists" whom he was speaking of. He did not say Muslims in general. There is a huge difference there. A terrorist is a terrorist. In giving the specific group, Mr. Gadiel hopes people never forget who committed this act against America. America has gone soft. It is important that we remember it was Muslim extremists who attacked us on that Fall day back in 2001. Why are we suddenly treating terrorists with kid gloves?

I have friends of all races and of all religious backgrounds. I have a few friends who are Muslim, and they are kindest, most warm individuals. Mr. Gadiel is not speaking of all Muslims, and the city's reasoning for why is does not want this specific wording is because the city says the phrase is too controversial. Huh? Since when did it become wrong to speak out against a specific terrorist group? This group killed thousands, and I guarantee this wording would have been approved just after 9/11. This just illustrates the fact that many people have forgotten about those who killed so many of our own on 9/11. Why should we appease this group? These extremists hate America and everything she stands for. Why do we feel like we have to be so politically correct all of a sudden? Call it like you see it. While Sarah has not spoken out on this particular issue, she seems to be the only prominent individual who is not afraid to speak out anymore. People need to wake up and realize that Muslim terrorists- those who targeted us on 9/11- will NEVER be our friends. There is NEVER going to be any making up because they hate us. Yet, according to people like Ruth Epstein, a Kent selectman and one of the two individuals who voted against the proposed wording on the plaque, she believes the wording goes against everything the city of Kent represents:

"We perceive ourselves as a very warm, loving town.... To disparage any one ethnic group is just against everything that we stand for here."

Well, Ms. Epstein, did you forget who targeted us on 9/11? Once again, this proves how right Glenn Beck is when he said, just the other day, how many Americans think they live in a land of gumdrops and rainbows. Wake up, Ms. Epstein. This man is only stating the facts. His son was viciously murdered, and this is how you honor his son- by wanting to forget? What has America come to when we have to fear getting chastised for speaking the truth? This is absolutely ridiculous and goes against EVERYTHING America stands for!!! America is about freedom and liberty, not tight lips and forgetting or covering up the truth of the matter. The city of Kent is basically silencing this man and the legacy of his son. Not only should the city allow this plaque, but they should thank Mr. Gadiel for reminding the city who attacked us on 9/11.

Our country is traveling down a dangerous path when people start to get targeted for simply owning a gun or being pro-life, but we allow the Muslim terrorists who killed us on 9/11 to remain faceless and nameless. While you and I will "always remember and never forget," there are many out there who are going to try to do the opposite. Many in America have lost focus as to what is right and what is wrong. I fear to think what students will learn 15 or 20 years from now about 9/11, but then again, maybe some are already learning to forget 9/11 in their classes; after all, on the recent anniversary of 9/11, they were basically taught 9/11 was all about a day of service. Peter Gadiel is right to fear that people are starting to forget who attacked us on that cool, crisp, beautiful September morning. What is it going to take for America to wake up and see that not everyone loves this country as much as we do? There is evil in this world, and the Muslim Extremists, as well as other terrorist groups, are out to target America. While the city of Kent does not get it, and the extreme liberal left does not get it, and the White House does not get it, one thing does ring true: Like Mr. Gadiel, you and I get it.

Prevaricating Politico Piece Pummels Palin (Updated)

- By Josh Painter, Texas for Sarah Palin
*
The Palin-hatin' media just keeps pouring it on Sarah Palin. The latest example is Politico's distortion of a report that a pro-family group wants to bring her to Iowa. The Iowa Family Policy Center has asked Team Sarah, which has no formal ties to the former governor, to help it raise $100,000 to stage an event on November 21 for which the organization hopes to book Palin to be the speaker. Team Sarah's Bill Collier says that IFPC has already raised $59,000 for the event, and his group is trying to raise another $41,000.

The headline for the Politico piece -- "Sarah Palin's $100K speaking fee has Iowa Republicans wincing" -- gives the impression that the money Team Sarah and IFPC are trying to raise is needed to pay the 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate's speaker fees, and the lede is likewise designed to paint Palin as a mercenary of the speakers circuit:
A conservative Iowa group’s effort to lure Sarah Palin to its banquet next month has had an unintended effect: Rather than exciting conservatives about the prospect of a visit from the former Alaska governor, the group’s plan to raise a six-figure sum to bring her to the state has GOP activists recoiling at the thought of paying to land a politician's speaking appearance.

The Iowa Family Policy Center’s effort to cobble together $100,000 for Palin would represent a striking departure from customary practice in the first-in-the-nation state, these Republicans say, noting that a generation of White House hopefuls has paid their own way to boost their party and presidential ambitions.

Were Palin to appear in Iowa on November 21st, it would mark her first trip back to the state since she spoke to a handful of rallies there last fall as the GOP’s vice-presidential nominee. She would offer powerful counter-programming to another major political event that night: The Iowa Democratic Party’s Jefferson-Jackson Dinner with Vice-President Joe Biden as the headliner.

But representatives from other Iowa-based political advocacy groups said they would never consider shelling out money for what many politicians see as a privilege: the opportunity to speak to a room full of sure-fire caucus-goers who often serve as precinct captains and can be instrumental to a presidential candidate’s success.
Jonathan Martin, who wrote the hit piece, then goes on to quote a number of Iowa advocacy group leaders who say that they have never had to pay politicians to attend their events, and they are not about to start now.

There's just one problem with this piece of Politico prevarication. The money the two groups are hoping to raise is not necessarily earmarked to pay Sarah Palin to speak. Major events -- and IFPC says this will be a major event even bigger than the banquet in Indiana where Palin delivered a pro-life manifesto of a keynote speech -- require large venues which can seat thousands of people. Such venues have to be rented, and they don't come cheap. In addition, these events have to have security which is usually provided by hiring off-duty police officers. Other workers have to be contracted to take tickets, run the lighting and sound systems and clean up after the event. Then there are promotional costs for local media buys, printing flyers and the like. Such an event as being proposed by IFPC can easily cost $100,000 or more just to stage, exclusive of any speakers fees which the intended speaker may or may not charge.

And indeed, one has to read all the to the sixteenth paragraph to learn that IFPC spokesman Bryan English told Martin that the effort to raise money was only to secure a venue, pay for lighting and promote the event and that English was "not personally aware of a speaker’s fee." And it's not until the twenty-fourth paragraph that Martin admits:
"There is no indication that the former governor has requested a fee or that her decision whether to attend is being influenced by whether she’ll be paid."
False? Misleading? Distorted? Deceptive? Biased? Anti-Palin? You betcha! That's Jonathan Martin. That's Politico. That's reprehensible. Why is Sarah Pain the only political figure Politico goes out of its way to treat in this manner?

Update: You just know how deceptive Jonathan Martin's hit piece is when liberal Newsweek feels the need to call him out on it! To Holly Berry's credit, she posted on that magazine's blog The Gaggle:
The Palin camp tells NEWSWEEK there's no fee. Meg Stapleton, Palin's spokeswoman, tells your Gaggler that Palin "has not requested anything" and that she "does not charge people to campaign for them." According to Stapleton, Palin would instead cover such travel costs through her political-action committee, SarahPAC. Of course, that doesn't mean she's going to Iowa. Palin's book, Going Rogue, is due out Nov. 17, and she's got a major publicity tour planned around that, including a Nov. 16 appearance on Oprah.
Berry says Stapleton also told her that the Iowa group "has been told that through formal and informal channels."

Heels on, Gloves Off: A Post by Conservative Girl with a Voice

As many of you already know, Sarah Palin is the main reason I started blogging. She is the reason why I have fallen in love with politics. If you would have asked me a year and a half ago where I saw myself in October 2009, I can tell you right now that my answer wouldn't come close to the life I find myself living now, and honestly, I couldn't be more thrilled and excited about how God has used me; furthermore, I cannot wait to see what he has in store for me next. With God, I know that anything is possible. He has opened so many doors for me, and I am having a great time on this journey called life. Having studied English and journalism in college, this blog has given me the opportunity to expand on what I learned, and I feel myself growing as a writer everyday. Writing, public speaking and politics are three of my passions, something I'd love to make a career out of. I thank each and every one of you for taking the time to read my blog each day; you will never know how grateful I am for the the support and kind words I receive from many of you each day.

I am not ashamed to say I am a proud conservative. Contrary to popular belief, it can be hip and cool to be a young conservative. While those in Hollywood will try to preach that liberal is the only way to be, don't falter and don't fall- stick to your conservative values. I know I don't have to tell many of you this twice because you don't and never have listened to those liberal freaks in Hollywood. Do they know what it's like to earn a hard-earned living? Do they know what it's a like to live on Mainstreet U.S.A? Do they know what it is to have to sacrifice on the battlefield like our soldiers do day in and day out? Do they know what it's like to have to say goodbye to a family member who's in the military knowing that it will be months before they are reunited? No, the majority do not.

As a young conservative, I want to spread the message of what conservatism REALLY represents. It's not about spending liberally, it's not about growing government, and it's not about voting with the democrats to grow government while calling yourself a Republican. Unfortunately, the previous items are what the Republican party has become. Although the Republican Party has strayed away from its core values of fiscal conservatism, small government and strong national defense, we are starting to see the conservative movement spread like wildfire, and I believe there is one individual who is responsible for this: Sarah Palin. Sarah re-energized America, and America continues to be re-energized because of her presence in it. She is unafraid to stand up and speak out. In endorsing Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman, she chose values over party. Hoffman represents the type of candidate who is needed in the Republican Party. Although he is a third party candidate, he is a conservative like Republicans Michele Bachmann, Jim DeMint and Mike Pence. He is a conservative like Sarah Palin. The NY 23 race has captivated a country that is sick and tired of what is happening. Candidates with conservative values ARE the future of America. Doug Hoffman is proving this, and Bob McDonnell (running for governor of Virginia) is proving this too.

I am a tough cookie, and I am not afraid to fight the good fight. I am not going to sit back like a good girl while my country and conservative values are coming under attack. It was Sarah who taught me this. It was Sarah who stood, and continues to stand, tall and strong when she was attacked with the most vile of attacks. It IS Sarah who stands up for the conservative values so many of us share. Sarah IS our future!!! If you need an illustration of someone with sheer grit and intense determination, Sarah is that individual. Just as Ronald Reagan before her, she is going to lead us out of the wilderness and onto that shining city on a hill. While I have so many favorite "Sarah" quotes, it was something she said just up the freeway from me when she spoke at a rally in California during the campaign. I will never forget a fun one-liner of hers that I enjoy using from time to time. At this rally, Sarah said, "The heels are on, the gloves are off." Well said, Sarah. I know I'm ready, fellow readers, are you? While I know many of you are just not that into heels, go ahead and put on a happening pair of shoes, and let's take back the Republican Party, and make it a party we can once again can be proud to call ourselves members of.

Palin Coming to Des Moines?

55848942

By Shane Vander Hart, Caffeinated Thoughts

Iowa Family Policy Center ACTION sent out the following press release last night:

IFPC ACTION GOING ROGUE?

10/27/09 Pleasant Hill, IA – In response to media inquiries, Iowa Family Policy Center ACTION President Chuck Hurley responded today to questions concerning a potential appearance by former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin at an upcoming IFPC Action event.

According to Hurley, “We have reached out to Governor Palin through both official and informal channels and extended an invitation for her to keynote our annual fundraising event.” He went on to say, “We are not yet ready to confirm the specifics, but are hopeful that all the details can be worked out for her to come.”

IFPC Action began soliciting financial support for the event this week in anticipation of the Governor’s potential visit. Responding to questions raised by preliminary fundraising for the event, Hurley said the event, scheduled for November 21st, would be “on a much larger scale than our banquet last November,” and that “we are preparing now to make sure the Governor’s visit is a huge success should she accept our invitation.”

IFPC Action welcomed Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal on his first trip to Iowa when he spoke at last year’s event. Previous IFPC Action speakers include Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, and Family Research Council President Tony Perkins.

Should Palin accept the invitation, her appearance at the IFPC Action event would mark her first trip to Iowa since she traveled the state as the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee.

This would be an incredibly good move for her to make.  While this would be sweet, and I would try to make sure I attend the event – it isn’t confirmed.  So I would encourage everybody not to assume that she is coming.  When Meg Stapleton, her personal spokesperson, says so… then you can bank on it.

The Iowa Republican notes the irony if she does in fact attend:

Palin’s appearance would occur just across the street from the Iowa Democratic Party’s Jefferson Jackson Dinner, which will be held at Hy-Vee Hall. The Iowa Family Policy Center was originally scheduled to hold its event at Hy-Vee Hall, but IFPC was asked to relocate once the Iowa Democratic Party confirmed Vice President Biden as its keynote speaker. As a consolation, the Iowa Events Center reportedly offered IFPC Action the 16,000 seat Wells Fargo Arena at a greatly reduced rate.

Who do you think would have more in attendance?  Palin?  You betcha.

Shane Vander Hart (who lives in the Des Moines area and would be super-thrilled to have Palin visit) is the editor of Caffeinated Thoughts.  Feel free to follow him on Twitter and friend him on Facebook.

Forget Grandma! It's ALL About ME! A Post by Conservative Girl with a Voice

I started a new job yesterday working with high school students. I found it particularly humorous that some of the students asked me if I was in high school myself, which by the way I took as a huge compliment because it illustrates that like my mom, I am aging well. What amazes me is how much high school has changed since I attended in the late 90's. While the majority of the textbooks have not changed, except for maybe becoming more liberal, which I started to see near the end of my high school career, the key difference if the new presence of what Glenn Beck referred to on his television show yesterday as the "Me" Generation. Here is how Glenn defined it one his show yesterday:

"A generation that only cares about 'me, me, me, mine.' A generation we never taught the meaning of merit. A generation that doesn't understand what it means to actually learn something because we've handed everything to them because our love and our compassion. It's what parents do. They've been brought up by parents who would not spank them because it was too barbaric. They weren't graded in red pens because it's too frightening, and we had to use a purple pen. A generation who got trophies no matter what place they finished in- it could be last place; they were told 'good job; here's a trophy.' A generation too busy trying to get noticed on You Tube or Facebook or Twitter to actually accomplish anything of real lasting value or make lasting value relationships. We never expected it of them. We promised them a life of sunshine, lollipops and rainbows."

As a youngster, I was taught by my parents to be self-sufficient and work hard to reach my goals, or as my parents put it: "reach for the stars," which I know is a very common current phrase, but very true. Not only did I try to do my best in school, but I worked hard in other areas of my life like sports and various extracurricular activities. Now, I may not have received an "A" in every class, but I worked as hard as I could; my parents were great because even if I received a "C," they knew that I had tried my hardest. Kids need to be encouraged and commended when they do well, commending is one thing; giving handouts are an entirely different matter. Handouts and prizes seem to be the norm now. The "Me" Generation expects more. The simple pat on the back and the "well done" have been replaced with trips, money and cars. I'm not the government, so I'm not going to look down upon or chastise a parent who may do this sort of thing. The point I am trying to make is that this generation expects such things; anything less would be unacceptable.

Parents are not solely to blame, for we see pop culture and the entertainment industry influencing kids. Not only are kids seeing and craving the latest in fashion and electronics, but more importantly, they are spending less and less time with family and more time playing video games, and on the computer. In spending less and less time with family, children are not hearing the stories of old- the stories that I remember hearing all the time as kids. I'm not talking about the stories you heard as a kid about a family member's daily trek through the snow to school. I'm talking about war stories, stories about the Great Depression, and stories about heritage. These stories shape a kid. I have to admit that as a kid, I sometimes grew tired of hearing stories like the ones mentioned above. Now as I look back, I'm glad I heard about the good and the bad times because it makes me thankful to be living in the world I live in today. While we have many hardships, and we are scared about the direction our country is heading, we have so much now that our parents and grandparents did not have. Things such as advances in medical care, more economic advantages and more educational opportunities just to name a few.

Our forefathers, and the members of past generations, risked so much, sometimes giving their lives just so we can be free. While many kids still hear the important stories, those apart of the "Me" Generation don't care enough to want to know. They don't seem to care about the struggles and hardships their grandparents went through; instead, they think the world centers around them. People like Robert Reich doesn't help the situation. The following is what he told a group of college students, only to be applauded and cheered:

"We are going to have to, if you're very old, we're not going to give you all that technology and all of those drugs for the last couple years of your life just to keep you maybe going for another couple of months. It's too expensive. So, we're going to let you die."

And the extreme liberal left called Sarah Palin a liar and fear monger for speaking out about death panels? Sarah was right in her assessment. You only have to look to the quote above for proof of this.

This notion of the whole world centering around the "Me" Generation leads to their developing a "me mentality." Glenn Beck did such a great job describing this mentality. The following is a letter written by Agnieszka Marczak of Lincoln, R.I. to the editor of "TIME" Magazine; Glenn read it on his show yesterday:

"I had to way through eight years of an administration that brought this country to the brink. Frankowsky should sit down quietly while the rest get to the task of cleaning up Bush's mess; besides, this health care debate isn't about those over 30. It is about the millions of uninsured recently graduated young people saddled with loans we cannot imagine paying off who are sick and tired of living in an abyss created by our elders' stupidity. Obama would be smart to focus on college towns: 'Step aside, grandma. We want health care, and we want it now.'"

This letter is not only disturbing, but is a clear indication of how far off course the "Me" Generation has veered. I was raised to respect my elders. Yes, I did get into trouble and was a very ornery child, but at the end of the day, I came back to reality and realized that I wouldn't be where I was or have the things I had without my elders; We owe them so much!!! Why would we want to punish them? This, essentially, is what that young individual and the rest of the "Me Generation want to do.

Our president is basically rearing this generation in the way he is leading our nation. The handouts have greatly increased. College kids are set to get tuition credits for performing community service. In walking lock step with the president, organizations and corporations, such as Disney are following Obama's lead, giving out free theme park admission to anyone who performs community service. I'm sorry, but this goes against the whole idea of community service and everything community service stands for. Yet, the "Me" Generation doesn't know any better. They see community service as a golden ticket to that prize behind door "number one," which is very unfortunate. For more on this, see "A Handout for Service." The members of "Me" Generation are going to continue to think solely about themselves until the time comes in which they are forced to learn that there are others who breath the same air as they do. Let's just hope they will realize how big a mistake it was to belong to such a dysfunctional generation.

Saving a Spot for Sarah

By Adrienne Ross - www.motivationtruth.com

This is a story that is sure to make you smile at the end, originating from Life in 3D.

A woman came in last night looking for a book by some feminist author that I had never heard of before, no big surprise there. So, I look it up in our search engine and the computer says that we might have it in the store. MIGHT have it, not WILL. So I tell her that I can check our inventory and see if it’s there and show her the section it would be in.

“No, that’s fine, I’ll find it myself. I’m going to look around a bit first”

Ten minutes later, as I’m showing another customer to 1984 I run across her in Literature looking around and she barges in to the conversation I’m having with my customer and sneers “Where is the section on Women’s rights?”

I tell her again “It’s upstairs and I’ll be happy to take you to it as soon as I am done here.”

“No, I can find it myself.” Note the lack of a ‘thank you’.

Eventually the customer accepts help, but she is complaining on the way to the section, talking all kinds of junk about how:

...the women’s studies section should be near the front of the store because it’s so important and how this author’s book should be on display because she’s doing a signing tour in California right now and she’s a NEW YORK TIMES COLUMNIST!!

She becomes even more disgruntled when she gets to the section because the book is nowhere to be found. According to her, the book deserves the place of honor in the store because it is the book!

You just have to love the employee's response:

“Well, ma’am, we were going to but we’re saving that spot for Sarah Palin.”

Like I said, you just have to love it!

That employee has one request, and I'll post it here, for after that exchange he deserves it:

Now all I can ask for is a signed copy of “Going Rogue” with the inscription “Instinct, Thanks for saving me a spot – Sarah”

I really hope Instinct gets his wish granted.

Sarah Palin Throws Her Weight Around

When Sarah Palin announced her support for Saxby Chambliss in the Georgia Senate runoff election to be held 12/02/2009, Chambliss was polling at 50% - 47% over his challenger Democrat Jim Martin. This was within the 4 point margin of error. Chambliss needed help if he was going to go into election night with confidence. Although the state of Georgia went for McCain-Palin, the rising popularity of a newly elected first African American president was helping Martin keep it close, until Palin stepped in to campaign for Chambliss. Her political power is again evident in New York's 23rd Congressional District.

Sarah Palin was the game changer for Chambliss. Her campaign appearance drew a huge crowd. Her support for Chambliss motivated and brought out the like minded people that he needed to win with.

Chambliss beat Martin 57% - 42%.

Let's assume that the four point margin of error went in Chambliss's favor. Conservatively estimating here for the sake of being fair and balanced, we could assume (if you gave Chambliss the 4 points and called his pre-Palin number 54%) that Palin gave him a 3 point bounce.

Many experts estimate that she gave him about a 4 or 5 point bounce. In a national race, I would judge from her results that she's probably good for anywhere from a 3 to 5 point bounce. That's a lot of clout.

Now a House race is a little more fluid then a Senate race. It's more local and it's more susceptible to wider poll swings. As such, last week, when Palin announced her support for Hoffman in NY's 23rd Congressional District race, I told a skeptical friend that Hoffman would get a 10 point bounce. He told me "no way."

I explained that Palin was good for around 3 points in a Senate race and anywhere from 6 to 10 points in a House race, depending on how conservative the district was. In Hoffman's case, I gave him the benefit of being in a conservative district and called for a 10 point bounce.

Before Palin endorsed Hoffman, here's how they looked: Owens(D) 35%, Scozzafava(RINO) 30%, Hoffman(C) 23%.

Today, the new poll shows Hoffman 34%, followed by Owens with 29% and Scozzafava dropping like a rock at 14%.

Yesterday, I called my skeptical friend and tell him I was wrong. Hoffman only got an 8 point bounce according to yesterday's poll. I may need to call him back tonight and tell him I was wrong again. The bounce was actually 11 points.

Yes, the grass roots has had a lot to do with this. Many have been blogging, appearing in the district to campaign and hounding the mainstream media with updates. But it wasn't until Sarah Palin endorsed him on her Facebook page that the rubber hit the road and the polls changed.

In a blog I wrote yesterday, I ended it with this: "the real political science lesson here is that Chris Christie needs to make a phone call." When I got up this morning, I found that Sarah Palin wasn't going to wait for that phone call. Who's throwing their weight around now?

She wrote this on her Facebook page:

Watch New Jersey's economy come alive under new leadership that will put government back on the side of the people! Chris Christie promises this new leadership.

In the same post, Palin plugged Virginia gubernatorial candidate Bob McDonnell and the Republican Governor's Association putting the GOP on notice that she's only going rogue if they do. Palin has spoken and the GOP has no choice to listen because Palin is saying exactly the same thing that true conservatives and TEA Party grass rooters are. She just happens to have the uncanny ability of making what they say resonate.

What Does Rachel Maddow Know? A Post by Conservative Girl with a Voice

So, according to Rachel Maddow, Fox News does not report the news. This is what she said on her show the other night, and her saying this is not only disturbing, but hypocritical. Maddow reported that since Fox News covers the various tea parties around the country, it is not a reputable news organization. Maddow also incorrectly reported that Fox has sponsored tea parties. Where did she get that from? It looks to me like Maddow is a little teed off because Fox reported that she and her colleague, Keith Olbermann, were among those in attendance at a meeting held at the White House by President Obama.

It seems that Maddow is mixing up the fact that covering a story is much different than sponsoring an event. Perhaps Maddow and her fellow MSNBC co-workers need to look at themselves if they want to see a prime example of what sponsoring an event really looks like. Remember the inauguration? How could we forget it, right? The entire NBC News organization, especially MSNBC, built President Obama up to the point of ridiculousness. I will never forget Chris Matthews' daily tingles, and "oohs" and "ahhs" over Obama, even to the point of saying, on air I might add, that he was going to do everything in his power to help his new president succeed and look good. When he said this, his co-anchor questioned his comment essentially wondering if it REALLY was the job of the press to help their president succeed and look good when it could come at the expense of covering the news and asking the tough questions; now, I know and you know that a journalist's job should NOT be to do everything in his/her power to help the president look good; moreover, it is the job of the press to be objective. If Matthews' wants to make his president look great in the eyes of the world, then, I suggest he talk to Rahmbo "dead fish" Emanuel about seeing if he could take Robert "loose lips" Gibbs' job as communications secretary, but something tells me that Mr. Gibbs wouldn't be too happy about that. Wait- I have an idea. Since our president seems to travel a lot, we can put Gibbs on the plane with him, and when he isn't traveling, Matthews can do the pressers at the White House. But, then again, maybe that isn't such a good idea. Robert Gibbs is more than enough for anyone to handle on a single day. How dare Maddow imply that Fox is sponsoring what she calls "anti-government Tea Parties" when she herself works at a station that basically sugar coats everything Obama says? There is HUGE difference between reporting an event and say, selling a DVD of NBC's broadcast of the inauguration, which is exactly what NBC and MSNBC did. These networks even had commercial after commercial trying to get viewers to purchase the DVD. I'm sorry, but I don't think Ms. "Miss Information" Maddow is informed. Maybe we need to remind her of this, and while we're at it, we can remind her that Fox has never tried to sell a tape of its covering of the tea parties. As a Fox viewer, Fox covered the events when networks like MSNBC ignored them, which illustrates Matthews' point of wanting to help the president to look as good as possible. Maybe if MSNBC actually covered actual news, they would gain just a tad of the credibility back. I guarantee that Maddow is not only jealous of Fox news for its successful, rapidly growing ratings, but she knows that she is losing viewers faster than a guy loses pounds on a low-carb diet. It is easy to see why that is. She and her liberal co-workers can do everything in their power to simply sugar coat their reports, but viewers want to see ALL news whether it is good or bad. This way, they stay well informed as to what is going on. As a viewer, I can tell you that when I sit down to watch the news after a long day working, I just want straight-forward reporting. I don't want a station selling me a gimmick that I can find on an entertainment show. If I wanted to see entertainment, I'd watch "The Bachelor" or "American Idol." Yet, entertainment is what MSNBC does best, which is sad to have to state about a news organization.

I have to admit that I watch the FNC (Fox News Channel) the majority of the time, but this does not mean that I do not keep updated on what the other major networks are reporting. While CNN does report both sides of some stories, it is hard for me to give an example of MSNBC doing the same. As a member of the public, it is my job to keep the media honest, which is why I am not afraid to call MSNBC out in this post. When you basically lie, which is what Maddow did the other night, it is not only morally wrong, but ethically wrong as well. As someone who attends and knows a variety of people, from other states, who attend tea parties frequently, I can tell you that Fox is in no shape or form sponsoring these events. Contrary to what Nancy Pelosi tells you, you and I both know that these are not AstroTurf events, but grassroots events. Readers, AstroTurf does not grow, and this movement IS growing rapidly and at a fast rate too.

Just yesterday, San Diego had a Tea Party Express Rally in which 1000's attended. The people who attend these rallies come from all walks of life. They are people from every race and religion. They come from all economical backgrounds. They come from every party; in fact, these events are non-partisan. I have met conservatives, like myself, and I have gotten to know independents and also those who are liberal and voted for Barack Obama only to speak of the disappointment they now have in him. We gather at tea parties because we are sick and tired of the spending, growing government and lack of support we are getting from our representatives and senators- Democrat AND Republican. We gather peacefully to practice our First-Amendment right in the hope that our leaders will listen to us.

Instead of reporting the facts, Ms. Maddow and her colleagues choose to report the negatives like they did with the health care town halls. I hate to tell them, but the majority of the negative things reported were actually being acted out by liberal, Obama supporters posing as dissenters. On MSNBC and CNN, we repeatedly heard about the woman in the wheelchair who was mocked for supporting the public health care option, but Fox, which also reported this incident, was the only channel that gave the same amount of air time to another story that viewers may have not heard much about if they don't watch Fox. A man against the imposed heath care reform got his finger severely bitten by an imposed health care reform supporter. Yet, when I watched MSNBC's coverage of this story, I remember hearing maybe a 20-second hit. After the hit, the reporter commented that it was important to get both sides of the story before discussing the matter. HUH? Okay, so a man almost gets his finger bit off, and we have to get the suspect's side of the story too? If they are going to be oh-so-far and balanced for this incident, why don't they start taking their own advice and report both sides to EVERY story? That is what objective news is all about.

I'm sorry, Ms. Maddow, if your idea of news is liberal spewing propaganda. As for myself, I'm going to stick with watching the most trusted name in news, as well as going online and reading news and blogs. I suggest that instead of blaming another news agency for not reporting the news, you start actually reporting the truth. Now, I now I'm just a little-known blogger and my audience is far smaller than yours, but at least I report the truth and not the lies that have become so common place over at your network.

There are other individuals who exist in this country. Contrary to what MSNBC may think, there are other people who live here other than the First Family. Fox knows this as well as you and I. Thank goodness at least one news agency understands that this country is for we, the people. Fox will remain and will continue to remain #1 for the simple fact that they report it all: the good, the bad and the ugly. Fox has no competition, for it stands above the rest. Rachel Maddow can only hope that she and her prime time colleagues can come in second to Fox and that's when put up against the re-runs of the Fox primetime shows. Yep, I have to say Maddow and her counterparts have a lot to learn in reporting the news- fair and balanced, that is.

Sarah Palin: Principles Over Party? In a New York Minute!

By Adrienne Ross - www.motivationtruth.com

I'm a New Yorker, so let me chime in on this...

Last week Governor Palin endorsed the Conservative-party candidate, Doug Hoffman, over Republican, Dede Scozzafava, in the New York 23rd Congressional District. A bold move, which we should be used to by now with Sarah. The endorsement has been a conversation-piece since the moment she made it. Whereas Newt Gingrich endorsed Scozzafava, those who put their money where their mouth is could never make such an endorsement.

Regardless of the 'R' next to her name, Scozzafava is more of a Liberal than many Liberals are. She is a far cry from a true Republican standing on conservative principles. For some, that's okay, for as long as the 'R' remains by her name, they are content to lend their support. What's that all about? If we don't stand for something, what are we doing?

Apparently Newt Gingrich doesn't get it because he endorsed a woman who is certainly not abiding by the principles of the Party. And what's his attitude toward people like Sarah Palin, Fred Thompson, and Governor Pawlenty who have put principles over Party by endorsing Hoffman, a true conservative? "Mind your business!" he screams at them. Meanwhile he's not exactly minding his, for the last time I checked he did not live in New York-23.

Scozzafava is no conservative. She is a RINO (Republican in Name Only), and we can no longer afford to elect people who are not willing to stand up for the principles the people expect them to. Too much is at stake. She does not set herself apart from Democrats, so why would any Republican, who truly cares about principles, support her? It makes no sense.

However, not everyone is willing to go on record--putting their names on the line in the process--for going against "the family." Some would rather remain silent, like Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee. Perhaps they find remaining silent easier than bucking the Party for the sake of principles. But by now we ought to expect better of Sarah. She is principled, if nothing else. Remember, in Alaska she took on corrupt politicians regardless of their Party because doing the right thing is doing the right thing--PERIOD. In this case, supporting Scozzafava is not doing the right thing. Here's a woman who approved of the stimulus plan, supports abortion, and is a threat to the traditional family.

Governor Palin supports Doug Hoffman for good reasons, as noted on her Facebook page (emphasis mine):

The federal government borrows, spends, and prints too much money, while our national debt hits a record high. Government is growing while the private sector is shrinking, and unemployment is on the rise. Doug Hoffman is committed to ending the reckless spending in Washington, D.C. and the massive increase in the size and scope of the federal government. He is also fully committed to supporting our men and women in uniform as they seek to honorably complete their missions overseas.

And best of all, Doug Hoffman has not been anointed by any political machine.

Doug Hoffman stands for the principles that all Republicans should share: smaller government, lower taxes, strong national defense, and a commitment to individual liberty.

Political parties must stand for something. When Republicans were in the wilderness in the late 1970s, Ronald Reagan knew that the doctrine of "blurring the lines" between parties was not an appropriate way to win elections. Unfortunately, the Republican Party today has decided to choose a candidate who more than blurs the lines, and there is no real difference between the Democrat and the Republican in this race. This is why Doug Hoffman is running on the Conservative Party's ticket.

There's been an on-going debate about what the Republican Party must do to "right the ship." Many say we need to move further to the Left, to sell out the values upon which we have been built. In the midst of that nonsensical chit-chat, some, like Governor Palin, are standing up for principles. If that means they have to step away from a professing Republican who does not represent those principles, so be it. Again, doing the right thing is doing the right thing.

When Governor Palin announced on July 3rd that she would be stepping down from the office of governor, she expressed clearly what she would do next (emphasis mine).

And there is such a need to BUILD up and FIGHT for our state and our country. I choose to FIGHT for it! And I'll work hard for others who still believe in free enterprise and smaller government; strong national security for our country and support for our troops; energy independence; and for those who will protect freedom and equality and LIFE... I'll work for and campaign for those PROUD to be American, and those who are INSPIRED by our ideals and won't deride them.

I WILL support others who seek to serve, in or out of office, for the RIGHT reasons, and I don't care what party they're in or no party at all. Inside Alaska - or Outside Alaska.

Both the mainstream media and the "political machine" played stupid, like they couldn't figure out what Governor Palin meant. Maybe now they get the picture: She meant exactly what she said.

Values DO Matter: A Post by Conservative Girl with a Voice

Tim Pawlenty and Mike Huckabee have something in common other than the fact that they are prominent Republican men. The commonality these men share is the fact that they have yet to endorse the third-party Conservative Party candidate, Doug Hoffman in New York's 23rd District Race. By now, you all know Newt Gingrich endorsed the liberal Republican, Dede Scozzafava (whom, by the way, is even more liberal than the Democrat in the race) recently, but Pawlenty and Huckabee have yet to take a stand. Now, to me, your little humble blogger, the decision is an easy one. When you look at Hoffman and Scozzafava, it is clear that the only true conservative in the race is Hoffman. What's so hard about making a decision based upon values and principle instead of party? I'm not even going to discuss the displeasure I have in Gingrich's decision, for that would have to be an entire new blog entry in itself, and I don't want to pain you in having to read an entire post about Newt Gingrich and Dede Scozzafava’s newly formed partnership. Instead, I want to focus today's random thought post on Pawlenty, Huckabee and Palin, all of whom are possible 2012 presidential contenders.

Values over party- that's exactly what Sarah chose when she threw her support behind Hoffman. In doing so, she illustrated the maverick streak we, her supporters, have come to know and love. In "shaking things up," Sarah did exactly what needed to be done. As I discussed earlier this week, the Republican Party has drifted further and further away from its core principles and ideals. Sarah made an important statement; literally taking a stand by basically saying enough is enough. While you may call yourself a Republican, values matters. If you don't believe in the values that once made the Republican Party the Grand Old Party it once was, then you don't deserve to be supported. If you are going to support many of the same issues as your Democratic counterpart, then you need to realize that the conservative base is going to look elsewhere. In this case, Hoffman IS the other option, the better option. As Sarah mentioned in her Facebook Note, endorsing Hoffman is a matter of principle:

"Doug Hoffman stands for the principles that all Republicans should share: smaller government, lower taxes, strong national defense, and a commitment to individual liberty.... Political parties must stand for something."

Sarah is exactly right. Once again, she is doing what she always has done: Talking the talk AND walking the walk. It's too bad that the same cannot be said for her Republican counterparts. Unlike Sarah, who is actually taking a stand, Pawlenty and Huckabee have yet to follow suit.

I find it very striking that while individuals like Huckabee and Pawlenty have no problem speaking out against the Obama Administration, they seem to become tight-lipped on issues that matter most. As a voter, I see this as a clear example of putting party first at the expense of doing what's right. It is clear that Scozzafava makes Rinos like Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe look like conservatives. Yet, Pawlenty and Huckabee refuse to take a stand. Instead of simply saying that they don't want to go against the Republican Party, they give excuses, saying things like they don't know enough about the race or haven't researched the candidates enough. Give me a break; do they really think we are that stupid? This election has been discussed on every news network, so unless they've been hiking the Appalachian Trail, I think they know enough to know which candidate shares their values. Here's what Huckabee told Neil Cavuto yesterday about the race and Conservative Party Candidate Hoffman:

"Certainly his views represent more closely to mine.... I'm not taking a role in that with my PAC, simply because I feel like it would be inappropriate with me at this point -- mainly because I'm already speaking to the Conservative Party next week. But it is not an endorsement speech, it is an awards speech, and I don't want to get the two confused.... I'm never gonna support somebody who does not believe that every human life has value and meaning. I'm not gonna support people who would do things like say TARP is one of those great, wonderful things. I think I have a right and responsibility to only support people who hold to principles, above party and above just the politics of winning and losing."

So, let me get this straight. While Huckabee is not going to endorse the liberal Republican Party candidate, he is not going to support a man who believes in the same things he does? For the sake of conservatism, take a stand! Stop using the Republican Party, for its current state serves as a roadblock that is blocking the way for the real change that is necessary to reclaim America and the Republican Party. Readers, it gets even better; here's what Pawlenty said about the race:

"You know I haven't been following that, I haven't studied the race at all.... It's not that I would or wouldn't, I just don't know anything about it. I haven't taken the time to study their positions, their records, so I haven't taken a position on it.

I think we're going to win them both.... In New Jersey, I don't want to get ahead of ourselves. But it sure looks like Republicans are going to win in Virginia. New Jersey's going to be a closer call, but that's also a tougher state for Republicans. But if the election were held today I think we'd win them both."

Don't you just love it? While I respect both of these men, I have to admit that I have lost a lot of the respect I once held for reasons like the quotes above. These men live and breath politics, but it seems that the establishment has clouded their good judgment.

Instead of standing up and doing the right thing, they seem to care more about the Republican Party itself and the money and favors they receive and will continue to receive as long as they keep under the Republican Party's thumbs. It's time these men and other individuals like them realize that the Republican Party is not all it's cracked up to be. Don't misunderstand me. I value the Republican Party, but I want THE Republican Party back; I want the Grand Old Party of Ronald Reagan. The Republican Party that, at one time, stood for all of the right things: smaller government, fiscal responsibility, lower taxes and strong national defense. The Republican Party has a long way to go before it once again is the party of right, but in standing up for the Conservative Party candidate, individuals like Sarah, Rick Santorum and Michele Bachmann are sending a clear message to the Republican Party establishment that values do matter. In standing up and taking a stand, Sarah and Michele prove, yet again, that they more guts than their male counterparts will ever have! The Republican Party could use a lot more guts and a lot less playing the fence.

Washington's Newest Daycare Center: A Post by Conservative Girl with a Voice

What has the Washington D.C. establishment turned into? A daycare center? If so, President Obama is the daycare center's commander in chief, but then again, I don't know if he's mature enough. From what I've seen, he is having enough trouble throwing temper tantrums and spending the majority of his time either traveling around on his big airplane or complaining about FOX News. Can you even begin to imagine if the shoe were on another foot, and George W. Bush was traveling all over the place to campaign and complaining about MSNBC while he was president? Not only would he have been berated and ripped to shreds by the press and Americans everywhere, but he also would have lost all credibility. Former White House Communications Director Dana Perino was asked about this very issue today on Neil Cavuto's show, and here was her response:

"It was never his [Bush's] style, and I tried to follow his lead and be classy and gracious about things. Of course there's liberal media that we didn't like, but we never would have said it out loud. I think their are ways that you can deal with this and instead of having a coordinated- obviously you put all those sound bites together- they planned this all out, they made a decision, they all went out and said it at the same time, and I think what they've done is, basically, they've put a spot on the wall and, then, maybe unwittingly, they've rubbed the spot on the wall, and they've just made it so much worse than it should have been for them."

Well said, Dana. Man, how times have changed. Maybe THIS is what President Obama was talking about when he said he would change America. It has to be because there is no other explanation for the ridiculousness that is ensuing. I know children who are more mature and behaved than the members of the Obama Administration and Congress. Heck, is it too early to nominate the oh-so-adorable Piper Palin to be her mom's VP candidate in 2012? Not only is she bright, but much more mature than the crybabies whom we find currently running our country.

While President Obama is too busy criticizing Fox for not being a “real news organization,” I guess a network like MSNBC, that night after night spews hate and false information to its viewers, is what Obama views as news nowadays. I wonder if our dear president knows that, just today, MSNBC was reporting a truly newsworthy poll taken about NBC White House Correspondent Chuck Todd's goatee. I'm serious! Hmmmm guess asking viewers whether or not Chuckie boy should ax his goatee is more important than the health care debate and much more important than the ongoing issue of troop levels in Afghanistan. Then, we have a network like Fox News that actually sticks to reporting the issues and professionally keeping viewers up to date. The entire argument of whether or not Fox is a reputable news agency is absolutely ridiculous and an argument that should not be happening. By the way, isn’t it called a “conflict of interest,” Mr. President, when you meet privately with a large group of well-know liberal reporters or commentators? Here are just a some of the liberal journalists/commentators in attendance at a recent meeting as provided by Fox News.com: Rachel Maddow, Keith Olbermann, Eugene Robinson, Frank Rich, Maureen Dowd, Gloria Borger, Gwen Ifill and E.J. Dionne. Isn’t it ironic that after this meeting occurred, Obama’s lashing out of Fox News spun into high gear and he made comments such as:

“I think that what our advisers simply said was, is that we are going to take media as it comes. . . and if the media is operating, basically, as a talk radio format, then that’s one thing. And if it’s operating as a news outlet, then that’s another. But it’s not something I’m losing a lot of sleep over.” Fox News.com

Mr. President, I beg to differ. It seems to me like you are losing sleep, and since you haven’t yet taken that famous 3 a.m. call, then, chances are it’s a pretty good guess that Fox News is the source of those bags under your eyes. Maybe next time, you should actually take some advice from individuals who are actually reputable journalists rather than individuals like Rachel M. and Keith O.

Over the course of the last few years, I have watched Fox News become a leader in reporting, while networks like MSNBC have become extremely liberal propaganda spewing machines. The daycare kids, I mean the Obama Administration and liberal members of Congress, are not doing what they have been elected to do. Instead of coming together and debating the issues, we see members being locked out of the conversation- literally locked out! Just the other day, the locks to the door of the House Oversight Committee Room, at a request by the committee's chairman, were changed meaning members could no longer enter without having the new key. In what's been labeled "Door Gate," this incident, as ridiculous as it sounds, caused an uproar and finger pointing back and forth. Now, just today, after this story is rapidly spreading like wild fire, the committee room's doors are mysteriously now unlocked. WOW. Isn't this generous of the democrats? They are actually going to once again "allow" the republicans into the room, if not the discussion. Isn't that nice of them? What a joke! Washington has become a pool full of weenies and lunatics hell bent on having it their way. If they find that someone is coming in between them and what they want, just as Alinsky's Rules for Radicals implies, they are going to target and destroy person or organization. Thus, Obama views the press as his press. Nothing surprises me with this administration anymore. I wouldn't be shocked if the administration changed the term "freedom of the press" to "rules of the press," in that Obama guides all media decisions.

Obama and his administration are making a variety of mistakes in picking fights with members of the media. They are losing the battle, which will lead to their losing the war. Although the media view one another as competition, they are a group in that they believe in the First Amendment and freedom of the press. This can be seen very recently when the administration attempted to have the new “pay czar,” Kenneth Feinberg, interviewed by ALL major news networks, BUT Fox News. Low and behold, the administration ran into a huge roadblock when the other networks said they would only participate if Fox was able to participate in the interview as well. For once, I commend the media for not bowing to the White House and its ever-growing list of demands. I guess Obama and company don’t realize that you cannot always get everything you want; there are some times when you have to give and take. The Democrats serving us in Washington D.C. also need to realize this because in taking the lead from their president, they have not only locked the opposition out, but they have closed their minds from the deferring opinions. Our founding fathers meant for a system of checks and balances, and liberals serving us have forgotten this very important point. If an administration is left unchecked, problems occur, which is undeniably clear when we see the chaos ensuing in D.C. right now as I write this.

At the close of his show today, Cavuto made a great common sense point when he said the following about those who locked themselves behind that committee room door:

“They’re behind the door aren’t they? A door that isn’t opening and leaves us wondering- that’s some door isn’t it? Until you realize that the door is more than a door, isn’t it? It represents a process that was supposed to be opened, but isn’t, using politicians who vowed not to include any illegal’s under this plan, but have- gathered in a room that was supposed to represent all points of view, but wont. That door tells you a lot about this approach- that door is about Washington itself, vowing not to be in the car business, but is, but promising to get out of the banking business, but is not. Politicians can say they’re not out to run those businesses, but are now setting pay at those businesses. Politicians who cant police their own books, now telling others how to police theirs. Politicians who would sooner find a break for themselves, then lasting relief for the people who put them in office. An office whose door is closed. An office whose occupants are clueless to a growing kind of folk who certainly want in on the debate, but apparently are deemed too stupid or loud to be part of that debate, but they are not. They are on the outside looking in only imagining what politicians inside are working out, all because the door is shut. Just like the minds of the people meeting behind it- are shut. It is enough for me to say: ‘Oh... shut.’”

Our elected officials are so closed minded that they have forgotten that they work for us. If anything, they should be asking us permission of when and where they can hold their meetings, for we elected them. Have they forgotten that? Have they forgotten that we, the people, put them easily in to office, which means that we, the people, can remove them from office just as easily? These elitists are wandering clueless through the desert while we wait for them to gain some common sense. While American people are a very forgiving bunch, patience is a very different matter, and you and me and the rest of the masses are becoming a very impatient group. If Congress and the White House are cranky, maybe it’s time for a nap, or better yet, a timeout because frankly, I have friends whose own small children are better behaved than this daycare bunch. It’s time they put down their pacifiers, stop the whining and get to work.
