Prevarication by the numbers at the Des Moines Register

- by Josh Painter
*
This Des Moines Register Monday headline attempts to sell what appears to be bad news for Gov. Palin's presidential prospects in a key primary state - "Iowa Poll: Sarah Palin's favorability rating slips among Iowa Republicans." But does it really? Let's investigate:
Sarah Palin's popularity has declined among the very voters the former Alaska governor would need to impress first were she to seek the 2012 Republican nomination for president, The Des Moines Register's new Iowa Poll shows.

Palin's favorability has ebbed with Iowa Republican likely voters, whose most active members make up the state's presidential caucus electorate, in the past 15 months, according to the poll taken this month.

While a solid majority of this group still views Palin positively, the intensity has waned as Palin has become a regular national media presence but done little to cultivate a support base in Iowa.

The shift is not dramatic, but it raises questions about whether Palin would have staying power in Iowa as she moves closer to a decision on a White House run, pollsters say.

So if the shift is not dramatic, why the dramatic headline? The difference is a decline of just six points in Gov. Palin's favorability among Iowa Republicans from November 2009 to this month. The casual reader of this article would assume that the Register did not measure Gov. Palin's favorability in the state between November, 2009 and February 2011, but the casual reader would be mistaken.

Not mentioned anywhere in this article is the fact that the Des Moines Register reported June 11, 2010 that it's "latest poll" at the time showed that Sarah Palin had a favorability rating of 58 percent among likely GOP voters. So among the same group being measured, Gov. Palin's favorability has actually increased by seven percent over the last six months. So why did the Register's story today compare her numbers to a 2009 poll instead of its own more recent 2010 survey? We can only guess, but Craig Robinson of The Iowa Republican seems to have the Register pegged:
"It seems that with every election cycle that passes, the Des Moines Register’s bias towards Democrat candidates and liberal causes has become more and more apparent. Not only has the Register’s liberal bias more noticeable, the state’s largest newspaper acts like it doesn’t even care about how it is perceived anymore."
If the Register wants to compare Gov. Palin's numbers now with those of 15 months in the past rather than 6 months ago, it should, in the interest of fairness, at least mention somewhere in the article that it conducted a poll in 2010, and the results of that poll indicate that Gov. Palin is viewed more favorably by likely Republican voters today than she was in June of 2010. But the Des Moines Register is not at all interested in being fair to the GOP's first female vice presidential candidate. It would rather distort the facts by the sin of omission instead.

An additional caveat about the Register's latest poll: The portion of the sample that are likely Republican voters consisted of only 189 people, which should explain the astronomical margin of error among that subgroup of plus or minus 7.1 percentage points. That's more than twice the MOE of most statistically sound scientific surveys. In contrast, the 2010 poll of 501 likely Republican primary voters had a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percentage points, still not ideal, but a much more reliable confidence level than indicated by the MOE of the Register's latest poll, as any student who has taken STAT 101 well knows.

This story should serve as a textbook example of how the leftist media manipulates its own polling data to paint a distorted picture of how Sarah Palin is viewed by an electorate that same media long ago lost touch with. We can only conclude that the Des Moines Register is joining its liberal media fellow travelers in pushing an anti-Palin narrative, which is not surprising. But the way it goes about doing it is both disingenuous and despicable.

Governor Palin's Policies and the Black Community; Part III: School Choice

By Adrienne Ross - www.motivationtruth.com

During the month of February, I have been focusing on how Governor Palin has a pulse on the issues that are of particular relevance to the Black community, unlike this current Obama administration. Previously, I tackled both abortion and unemployment. The abortion issue is especially vital, as it is killing off the Black population, and if embracing the pro-life message is the heart of our survival, then our education, without a doubt, is the brain.

School choice is one of those issues to which we return repeatedly--and for good reason. As a public school teacher, I realize people are interested in where I stand on this issue, just as they are interested in where I stand on the Wisconsin situation. The answer is simple: I stand on the side of kids. Period. I'm no perfect person; therefore, I'm no perfect teacher. However, I didn't get into the profession for any reason other than kids. Therefore, they must remain the top priority. I am not in debt to unions, teachers, or systems that work against the success of students. I firmly believe that students need to be given every possible opportunity to succeed, and for many, the public school simply doesn't cut it. This is why school choice is so important.

It certainly isn't news that giving parents choices in their children's education opens up avenues otherwise closed. It creates opportunities for children to blossom, and isn't that what education is all about?

Governor Palin understands the power of choice when it comes to educating our children. As far back as her run for governor, in the Palin-Parnell 2006 campaign booklet, New Energy for Alaska, she stated:
My administration will support existing programs that already offer alternative school options available throughout the state, including charter schools, rural boarding schools, home school options, correspondence schools, and vocational/technical, and magnet schools.

The booklet also points out:
Sarah supports parental choice so that parents can choose what is best for their children -- vocational training, a public school, charter school, private school or home schooling.

As C4P reported here, Governor Palin was not able to advocate for vouchers as governor because it's unconstitutional in Alaska. Her inability to push for vouchers in her home state does not indicate an absence of support for it at the national level, however; it was an issue of the Alaska Constitution which she was sworn to uphold. Her record is clear that as governor she took very seriously upholding the Constitution, even when she personally disagreed.

Now, as a common sense voice for issues of importance beyond the state of Alaska, issues of national relevance, the Governor has recently weighed in once again on education, showing her support for school choice. After President Obama's State of the Union Address, she wrote:
Of course, it’s nice to give a speech calling for “investment” and “competition” in order to reach greatness. It’s quite another thing to advocate and implement policies that truly encourage such things. Growing the federal government is not the answer.

Take education for example. It’s easy to declare the need for better education, but will throwing even more money at the issue really help? As the Cato Institute’s Michael Tanner notes, “the federal government has increased education spending by 188 percent in real terms since 1970 without seeing any substantial improvement in test scores.” If you want “innovation” and “competition,” then support school choice initiatives and less federal control over our state and local districts.

The Governor is correct in pointing to Tanner's comments, for the link between educational success and educational choice is clear. The Heritage Foundation has been all over this issue. A few months ago, they released the following:
A new study released this week by the Department of Education’s Institute for Education Sciences found that participation in the D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program “raised a student’s probability of completing high school by 12 percentage points, from 70 percent to 82 percent, based on parent reports.” The news is a victory for school choice and education reform advocates across the country. Patrick Wolf, lead researcher at the University of Arkansas School Choice Demonstration Project, said:
These results are important because high school graduation is strongly associated with a large number of important life outcomes such as lifetime earnings, longevity, avoiding prison and out-of-wedlock births, and marital stability.

As I've pointed out in the previous two topics I've taken on during this series in February, if these issues are important within the country at large, they are absolutely vital within the Black community. And where does President Obama stand on this issue? We need look no further than D.C., where Blacks are drowning in failing schools, to see the need for school choice and to also see the President's response.

The Heritage Foundation tells us:

The D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program has provided a lifeline for low-income students out of failing and dangerous D.C. public schools—some of the worst in the nation—by giving them the chance to attend a private or charter school of their choice. However, after Obama was elected in fall of 2008, Congress quickly began to dissemble this program. In 2009, 216 students had received scholarships for the upcoming school year, only to have them rescinded shortly thereafter by the Administration. Then, Congress blocked new students from entering the program. Today, the 1,210 that remain are left to wonder if funding will continue beyond 2011.

Despite research showing the success of students in this program, President Obama has done nothing to stand up for them. Evaluations show that 91 percent of students who participate in this program graduate from high school, compared to 70 percent of their peers with similar characteristics. Contrast this with the average D.C. high school graduation rate of 49 percent. Beyond improved academic attainment, these students are able to escape the high rates of violence in D.C. public schools.

As Kevin Chavous, head of the Black Alliance for Educational Opportunity, told The Wall Street Journal earlier this month: “All presidents have the bully pulpit. … This president in particular has the power to change hearts and minds instantly.”

Yet President Obama has remained silent while children just like those portrayed in Waiting for Superman could be benefiting from school choice.

While the idea of a superhero coming to save the nation’s schools is far-fetched, it doesn’t take a “man of steel” who can “leap tall buildings in a single bound” to save the D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program.

For now, D.C. kids are waiting.

Take a look at his heartwrenching video:

Frances Reid, Chairman of The National Black Republican Association, holds back nothing as she blasts President Obama's lack of commitment to school choice and the impact on the Black community:
With not one scintilla of shame, President Barack Obama continuously blocks all efforts to provide school choice opportunity scholarships for poor black children that would help them get out of failed inner-city schools. Obama's total lack of concern about the plight of the poor is stunning, but not surprising in light of his socialist ideology and slavish loyalty to teachers' unions who put their own selfish economic interest above the basic educational needs of poor blacks.

Ignoring the tears and pleas of black students, Obama terminated the school choice program in the District of Columbia in his 2011 budget, sending impoverished children back into the failed DC public school system where they are not even being taught to read, write and do simple math. This lack of basic skills needed for employment and prosperity provides the toxic fuel for the deplorable conditions in black inner-city communities. In those urban cesspools there is staggering school truancy and black-on-black crime, ranging from rape, car-jacking, drug-trafficking, theft and murder. Seventy-percent of black babies are born out of wedlock, the school drop-out rate is over fifty-percent and the unemployment rate is an incredible seventeen-percent.

The documented crisis in black communities stirs no emotional reaction in Obama. Undoubtedly, the disgraceful situation in black neighborhoods is the direct result of the disastrous socialist policies of Democrats who have been running those communities for the past 60 years. Even more contemptible is the fact that Obama and his fellow Democrats have built their power base on the backs of poor blacks and readily engage in the despicable practice of race-baiting and victim mongering to win elections.

While Obama is busily catering to teachers' unions for his own partisan political gain, black parents are frantically trying to elevate the worth of their children's education. Sadly, a low-income mother in Ohio, Kelley Williams-Bolar who got her daughters into a quality school outside of her district of residence, was prosecuted, convicted and sentenced severely because she did not comply with the strict letter of the law. This desperate act by a loving mother, which resulted in her being deemed a criminal, demonstrates clearly that black parents do, indeed, want their children to be well-educated.

The untenable public school status quo has resulted in parents binding together in groups around the country in a quest to obtain educational reform and parental choice. One such organization is the Black Alliance for Educational Options (BAEO), and that group can be found on the Internet at: www.baeo.org. The National Black Republican Association supports this effort and urges all concerned citizens to join the cause and help ensure a better, brighter future for all of America's children, especially the disadvantaged.

Those on the Left are so quick to accuse conservatives, particularly tea partiers like Governor Palin, of being racists. So where are they on this issue? We know exactly where they are: they continue to fight against those who stand to benefit most from parental choice in children's education, keeping them locked in failed institutions that promote failed futures. Meanwhile President Obama, whom they love to hail as the First Black President (those who haven't bestowed that honor on Bill Clinton, that is), sits idly by while choice--and opportunities--are snatched away from our children.

This is not the type of policy that America can afford to promote. The results are devastating to all Americans--the feeling of hopelessness leads to dropouts, which lead to unemployment, which leads to crime, which affects the family, which affects the next generations. It becomes an all-too-familiar sickening cycle. Bring on a leader who is not in bed with special interests or unions, who understands how to serve and who does it for the right reasons. Bring on Governor Palin. Our future depends on it.

Todd Palin Champion of Adpating, Improvising, Overcoming

Though Todd Palin is not this year's Iron Dog Champion, he is a champion of adapting, improvising, and overcoming. The anti-Palin press of course spun his second place arrival as a "loss." In the Iron Dog, winners come in first to fifth place with first place being the year's champion.

The Iron Dog is one of the toughest sports in the world. Merely completing it is a major accomplishment. This year, 30 teams of two competed. Only 12 teams made it to the finish line, meaning nearly two thirds were scratched. The snowmachiners race at speeds reaching or exceeding 80 mph in temperatures that drop to -70 Fahrenheit, often in white-out blizzard conditions.

Major injuries are a common occurrence, and Todd has broken at least one of his arms in a prior race. Last year, Palin's partner Scott Davis sustained an injury resulting in them being being scratched. But, Todd Palin is a four-time champion and has the experience of 21 races. Most of the mainstream press misreported the number of championship wins as being three.

Todd Palin and Eric Quam had been in first place and about 30 miles from the finish line, when Todd hit some object with the left ski of his snow machine, which subsequently departed the vehicle. Todd jury-rigged the ski back to the machine with bungee cords. The picture shows the damage sustained to the shocks and suspension. Notice too how the ski is not flat on the ground, but cocked at an angle. Even with this setback, and now in the position of "test pilot," Todd came in second by only 6:51. To insinuate that he is somehow a "loser" is the nadir of journalistic absurdity.

Providentially, Todd may have predicted this as Gov. Palin describes in Going Rogue, p. 187:
"I really want to run the Iron Dog," I cockily told Todd one night as he settled down for a few hours' rest between 120-mph training rides by himself in the middle of the night.

"Can you wrench your own machine"? he asked.

"Nope."

"Can you get the back end of a six-hundred-pound machine unstuck by yourself with open water up to your thighs, then change out an engine at forty below in the pitch black on a frozen river and replace thrashed shocks and jury-rig a suspension using tree limbs along the trail?"
Gov. Palin went on to describe 100-mph night runs as Iron Doggers avoid chunks of ice and wildlife. The Palins have lost friends who died in avalanches breaking trails for the racers.

Chris Matthews Promotes Vile, Misogynist Video Attack on Gov. Palin

Contributing Authors: Stacy Drake and Ron Devito

MSNBC's Chris Matthews, who is world renowned for having Obama-induced tingles running up his legs yesterday aired as an "upper" and "comedy" an alleged "satire" video, which was a sexist and misogynist attack on Governor Palin and her family, Real Clear Politics (RCP) reported. The "Funny or Die" video contained in the RCP article is a sanitized version. The video casts Gov. Palin as a dim-witted, narcissistic bimbo who undergoes a 30-day-long mental breakdown as Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank's "Ignore Sarah Palin Month" goes into full effect. The sanitized video includes footage of the caricature giving an interview to an empty chair on Day 9 stating that Trig is not her child. The video culminates with the caricature not knowing that February only has 28 days. In reality, "Ignore Sarah Palin Month" did not even last one day, as reported by Adrienne Ross.

Following is a summary of what was in the un-cut video:
- Day 5: A panicked "Palin" offering to talk to Katie Couric about porn
- Day 6: "Palin" saying, "Levi Johnston, I [had sex with] him."
- Days 12 and Day 15: "Palin" with what appears to be a speared baby talking about a "blood libel"
- Day 19: Asking Rush Limbaugh for painkillers and claiming she "can see Russia from her vagina"
- Day 25: Licking on a deer antler - suggestive of oral sex.
Matthews - who RCP wrote has a long misogynistic history with women from both the left and right - lauded the video's creators as "comedic geniuses."

Call to Action

We are urging all supporters of Gov. Palin to stand up against this misogynist attack. Recall the success in 2009, when four advertisers pulled out of David Letterman's show in the wake of a scheduled rally to have him fired over "jokes" he made about Gov. Palin and her daughter Willow.

Governor Palin and Cherry Picking Media Memes

In another display of the media's complete lack of objectivity, McClatchy published a piece last week arguing that even Republicans activists do not want Governor Palin as president. In doing so, they attempted to cram in as many of media talking points and memes as possible that are consistently parroted about Governor Palin. She's not serious in her decision making to run for the presidency. Her poll numbers show she's not electable. She doesn't have the leadership skills or policy chops needed to be president. She's a quitter.

First, McClatchy writer, Steven Thomma, states:
As Sarah Palin wonders whether to run for president, she might want to talk to people in places such as South Carolina.

The word "wonder" in a decision making process generally refers to what you're going to make for dinner or what kind of jeans you're going to buy. In using that wording to describe Governor Palin's decision making process in potentially running for the presidency, Thomma attempts to paint Governor Palin as one who would make such a decision on a whim or flippantly. In the numerous interviews where Governor Palin has been asked about 2012, she has mentioned that she would look at the "lay of the land", pray, and consult her family in addition to contemplating her electability and potential to add to the presidential discussion. Moreover and arguably most importantly, Governor Palin frames a decision to seek the presidency as a "call to serve" not as a decision be president. Should she choose to run, she will make the moves, albeit as she says, unconventionally, necessary to forge a solid campaign throughout America in general and in early primary states like South Carolina specifically. Let's not forget she ran a successful primary and general election gubernatorial campaign in a state twice the size of Texas, and she is a masterful retail politician.

Next, Thomma trots out Governor Palin's poll numbers:
While national polls show that Palin still would win the support of about one in five Republicans in a national face-off today for the nomination, she no longer can claim the dominant role she enjoyed when she burst out of the 2008 campaign as the undisputed star of the party. She's also losing ground quickly among independents, who hold the keys to the White House.
...

A Gallup poll taken in September 2008, for example, found that 53 percent had favorable views of her and 28 percent held unfavorable views. Last month, the same poll found the numbers were almost reversed, 38-53.

It is amazing how much the media think polls matter at this point. No one has officially announced they are running for president. There have been no debates to allow candidates to juxtapose their positions and records against one another. At this point, polling data are only used as a talking point to paint Governor Palin as unelectable. If polling data a year prior to the first primary were a predictor of presidential nomination, then we would have seen a Giuliani vs. Clinton race in 2008. Additionally, even if one puts stock in the polls, then it must be noted that Governor Palin is indeed statistically tied with Governor Romney and Governor Huckabee in the polls, despite how Thomma tries to represent where potential candidates stand. If Thomma reports a loss of support by a potential candidate, he really should note that Governor Romney has lost 15% of his support since November while Governor Palin's support has remained steady. While Thomma claims that Governor Palin loses support among independents, the most recent Gallup poll shows that Governor Palin is statistically tied for the lead with Governor Romney among both Republican-leaning independents and moderate to liberal Republicans.

Thomma also egregiously brings out Governor Palin's poll numbers from just weeks after she was announced as Senator McCain's running mate to compare them to last month's favorability numbers. In the last two and a half years, the media has created a caricature of Governor Palin that has become the false perception of many Americans. After all, Governor Palin has been portrayed as unintelligent and unaccomplished when in actuality, she negotiated the largest private sector infrastructure project in the nation's history. She has spoken to business leaders in Hong Kong and on Long Island, yet the focus when she speaks is that she supposedly requests bendable straws. She is involved in a medical mission visit to Haiti where she spent time touring earthquake ravaged Haiti and holding cholera infected children, yet the false takeaway is that she brought a stylist on the trip (who, of course, was simply her daughter Bristol fixing her hair in an AP photo). Just last month (when the poll cited was conducted), the media reached a new low with constant, scurrilous assertions that a campaign map and political analogies used by Governor Palin were the driving force behind a madman killing several Arizonans and attempting to kill Congresswoman Giffords. With this media drawn caricature, it's no wonder Governor Palin's favorability has decreased. Should Governor Palin run, she will be given a greater opportunity to create her own narrative and correct the fallacies reported by the media. Ian at Conservatives4Palin addressed some of the other issues with Thomma's polling assertions here.

Thomma also cherrypicked GOPers at a South Carolina fund raiser to promote their false narratives. He also fails to detail the fact that the event he drew his quotes from was a fundraiser headlined by Congresswoman Bachmann:
"I like Palin," said Joseph Kejr, a Republican from Rock Hill who works in information technology for a Christian ministry. However, he added, "she's not polished in national government. In terms of leadership, I don't know about her."
...
She's not really creative," said Swain Shepperd, a retiree from Rock Hill. "She just repeats what's already been said by others."

The word "polished" has been used to describe our current president, and we've seen how that has worked out for us. "Polished" doesn't provide economic solutions or lead on foreign policy. The assertion that Governor Palin simply repeats what others have said is quite laughable, as is the claim that she cannot lead. In 2008, she first showed her prescience when she warned of then candidate Obama's stance on jobs, taxes, energy, spending, growth of government, foreign policy, etc. She drove the debate against President Obama's government takeover of health care. She was the only one of the potential 2012 presidential candidates to lead on border security issues when she stood with Governor Brewer. In addition to Congressman Pence, she was one of the few to address the dangers of quantitative easing. In her support for Congressman Ryan's roadmap, she was the first potential candidate to seriously addressing entitlement reform. Not to mention that with increased turmoil in places like Libya, potential issues with oil transport through the Suez canal, and the Obama administration's complete disregard for drilling for oil, Governor Palin leadership on energy issues will be at the forefront of a 2012 campaign.

The last meme Thomma addresses is the ubiquitous "quitter" meme:
Some said she hurt herself by quitting halfway through her term as governor of Alaska, robbing herself of a platform in government.

That shortfall's become more glaring as party activists have cheered on people who are now governing and fighting to cut spending, such as Govs. Chris Christie in New Jersey, Nikki Haley in South Carolina, Rick Scott in Florida and Scott Walker in Wisconsin, as well as Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives such as Bachmann.

Through three legislative terms as Governor, Palin reduced state spending by more than 9% (part of which was during of time of economic prosperity, which shows great fiscal discipline), reduced earmark requests by 80%, forward funded education, signed ethics reform, addressed oil tax structures, and initiated the largest private sector infrastructure project in American history. Needless to say, her platform in government is quite strong. As much of Governor Palin's staff's time was taken up by dealing with frivolous ethics complaints, her resignation allowed for state government to be less inhibited while still maintaining the same platform. As a byproduct of stepping aside from office, Governor Palin has been able to constructively criticize the Obama administration, provide conservative solutions, and endorse candidates without the potential for a baseless ethics complaint to be levied against her. In actuality, her platform has broadened.

It must be noted as well that if a resignation from office disqualifies one from the presidency, Congressmen Gingrich is not qualified. Additionally, if currently holding office is the only way one's budgetary record can be highlighted, then potential candidates like Governor Romney, Governor Huckabee, Governor Pawlenty, Senator Santorum cannot be considered either. Such "qualifications" would essentially reduce the field to zero.

Thomma attempts to highlight almost every meme directed against Governor Palin by cherry picking poll results and comments from GOPers. However, campaigns are run by creating one's own narrative, and campaigns are won by the voices of the whole of the electorate, not a small portion.

Correcting Gossip Huckster Shushannah Walshe

I realize that many Palin supporters are tired of hearing about Frank Bailey and his hideous manuscript. However, we cannot let members of the press continue to regurgitate the lies within the text of that unpublished book, with their charges going unanswered. A few days ago, Shushannah Walshe published a couple of articles pertaining to the Bailey manuscript. Since the links to her pieces are still bouncing around, all over the internet, her repeated assertions deserve to be highlighted for what they are, and the record corrected.

I addressed the most insidious segment her first article in the piece I posted at Big Government, last week, dealing with Bailey's lie in regard to the RGA. Today, I want to tackle some of the other assertions Walshe made. She began:

"Bailey Quashes Gossip About Trig Palin's Birth"
Although most of the tell-all is incredibly scathing, Bailey—who was not only an administrative staffer but also booked personal travel for the Palin family and worked around the clock to please his boss—aims to put the gossip about Bristol Palin giving birth to Sarah's fifth child, Trig, to an end.

How noble of him... Considering how detestable that piece of "gossip" is, I'm not too impressed with Bailey's effort. I gather it's nice to have the sort of source that the fruitcakes who push that theory would trust, out there. If only to get them to think twice before pushing their conspiracies on to the public. Obviously Bailey addressed this issue because it was easy for him to do so, and to give himself an ounce of credibility.

What strikes me is that Shushannah opens her double hit-piece with this item. It's a classic Walshe move. Play nice in the beginning, then turn around to take shots and push horrible lies later. They say, "every good lie has some truth to it." Perhaps Shushannah thought the same goes for her gossipy sourced tabloid-style attack articles.

Next, Walshe offers up a host of segments in which she uses the title of each as a stated fact, then attempts to back it up with blurbs from Bailey's manuscript. Posting demonizing titles such as "Palin Used Her Children for Political Gain," "Palin Helps Publicize Rumors About Her Family," and "Palin Said She Hated Being Governor."

By the way, even after you read the section that insinuates Governor Palin publicized "rumors about her family," you realize that what the governor was alleged to have done is correct the record for her family's sake. It would be the same for Shushannah Walshe to claim that this piece is also publicizing rumors about the governor's family. Earth to Walshe - You have to repeat a charge in order to clear it up. Where's the scandal in that?

The words Walshe pastes into her article under the other sections, are words that have already been discredited. Most of them are old left-wing attack lines, recycled for the once prospective readers of this non-book, and now by a columnist for the Daily Beast. The majority of the insinuations referenced by Walshe cannot be verified, and Bailey usually offers no evidence in the form of communications (i.e. emails) with the governor to back them up. Essentially, these people (Walshe included) are partaking in character assassination using hearsay, and in some instances, using the governor's children as a weapon.

In the second installment of the Bailey infused hit-pieces, Walshe once again uses the governor's husband and children to attack her. She states the following:
"Todd and Sarah Palin Had Marital Problems, Neglected the Kids"
Sarah Palin appeared to trust Bailey and confided in him on all topics, including family matters. In an email, Palin told him that Todd was working behind her back on the Troopergate affair, writing to Bailey: "We're not like normal couples, Frank. We don't talk."

Walshe is either lying or that was just a lazy guess on her part. She wrote that "In an email, Palin told him that"... Ah no, there was no email cited. As I have stated elsewhere, I have read the manuscript and can even tell you what page Walshe should have been looking at to write this section. Bailey's assertion is printed as a quote (which I guess we are all supposed to believe came from his vast memory bank) not an email. This quote is hearsay, not documented proof that the governor ever said such a thing.

Then, from the mind of the discredited disgruntled former employee, Walshe repeats the manuscript's attempt to twist normal behavior from children, into a damning critique of the governor's parenting skills. He cites events (without proof) such as a child not wearing a seat-belt (for however long) and alleging that one of her kids may or may not have received a bad grade. All in an effort to paint the governor as a horrible parent. It's one of many dirty avenues the writers of the manuscript, drove down to trash Governor Palin.

Walshe continues her piece in the same fashion, repeating the many claims of Frank Bailey. From demonizing the governor's use of basic political strategies, to trashing her faith, to trashing her husband's alleged response to a prankster, to trashing the people who vetted the governor for the McCain campaign, to scapegoating Bailey's own record, Shushannah's pieces is another heap of unsubstantiated garbage.

It didn't surprise me to see these articles from Shushannah Walshe, given her recent history writing about Governor Palin. After she co-wrote a book with the governor as the center-piece, Walshe took a turn for the worse. I imagine that it's possible that her need for attention directed her shift. After all, MSNBC is the only network who gives her any exposure, so it's a possibility that she's playing to the owners of the cameras.

Walshe, who once had the opportunity to interview the governor's family, is now trashing that family. From writing multiple hit-pieces (designed to appeal to a left-wing audience), to openly communicating with the likes of Palingates, this woman has developed into quite the smear merchant. I have to wonder what kind of character a person has to have in order to make their living by perpetually slandering and libeling another individual. Does Walshe not possess any redeemable qualities or skill-set to make an honest living? I know Palin supporters who once regarded Walshe as an objective writer. That is no longer the case. Shushannah Walshe has now reduced herself to irrelevancy. You cannot expect to be successful by repeating discredited information, while trashing another person, when there are hundreds of other vulture columnists doing the same thing. At the very least, maybe Shush should consider picking a different topic to write about once in awhile.

Palin & Quam Place Second in Iron Dog

Iron Dog racers Todd Palin and Eric Quam came in second behind Team 10, Tyler Huntington and Chris Olds. Palin and Quam left their final checkpoint in first place, but fell to second, possibly due to a rumored crash.

About 30 minutes prior to Team 10's arrival, Governor Palin explains how safety is first in Iron Dog races and how the racers respect Mother Nature...

"I love competition," Gov. Palin said.

Iron Dog Team 11, Todd Palin and Eric Quam have moved up to first place place, and are now headed to Nenana, Alaska at over 77 mph. A bad storm resulted in the entire race being delayed. Four more teams have been scratched since our prior coverage, leaving 13 teams out of the original 30 in the running.

As Obama's Hangover Subsides, WH Reportedly Decides to Take Governor Palin's Advice on Libya

Friday evening, Allah Pundit posted a piece stating that the Obama administration is asking for a contingency plan regarding the implementation of a no-fly zone over Libya, in the wake of the recent unrest.

He writes:
Just a blurb on Twitter, but Jackson Diehl’s a longtime WaPo columnist with plenty of contacts, no doubt:
I hear Obama administration has asked for contingency planning on a no-fly zone for #Libya

Let’s hope so, because the White House’s new plan to impose sanctions is so palpably lame as to operate as an admission that they’re not planning to do anything to stop protesters from getting shot. [...]

As for the no-fly zone, if they’re going to do it, it has to begin immediately. Rebels beat back an attempt by Qaddafi’s forces to retake the areas around Tripoli, and in Benghazi they’re vowing to march to the capital and take Qaddafi’s palace. The final standoff is coming, so if President Present wants to make a difference, he needs to give an order ASAP. Just one question: Has Qaddafi already lost control of his air assets? The Guardian claims that rebels have taken Mitiga air base near Tripoli, which means…
If Mitiga air base near Tripoli is confirmed as having gone over to the Libyan popular uprising it would be a serious blow for the regime close to the heart of the capital. The military base is adjacent to a civilian airport used for domestic and some short-haul international flights.

Mitiga has figured before at dramatic moments in Libyan history. It was a primary target of the US bombing in 1986 — retaliation for Libyan involvement in alleged terrorist attacks on US servicemen in Europe. Soviet personnel were based the during the cold war. Until shortly after Gaddafi’s 1969 revolution June 1970, the US air force used the facility, then known as Wheelus air base.

So even the no-fly zone may come too late, days after it might have prevented demonstrators from being strafed by Libyan jets.

I was wondering what was taking the administration so long to take serious steps in dealing with the threat Gaddafi poses to his own people. Then, remembering the president's priorities, I recalled that Obama had indeed been focused on what is truly important to him.

AP reports:

White House jams to the Motown sound

The White House reverberated like a long-ago basement sound studio in Detroit as the likes of John Legend, Seal, Jamie Foxx, Nick Jonas and Sheryl Crow channeled their inner Motown before Michelle and Barack Obama.

So, I'm not surprised that Obama was, in all likelihood, nursing a little hangover after the event. He must have felt the need to blow off some steam Thursday, after his gallant effort to get 300 US citizens out of harms way in Libya, and on to a ferry... At least, out of the way of the stray bullets being fired from Gaddafi's mercenaries. The passengers aboard the US-chartered boat were actually stuck off the coast of Tripoli for more than two days, due to weather. There is said to be over 6,000 Americans registered at the US Embassy in Libya. I know the administration is doing everything they have thought to do, but perhaps they should give China a call to see exactly how they managed to get 12,000 of their nationals out of Libya, up to this point.

I will give credit where credit is due, and some credit is due to whoever on Obama's team reportedly decided to take Governor Palin's advice. Even though she offered it last Tuesday. She wrote:
Now is the time to speak out. Speak out for the long-suffering Libyan people. Speak out for the victims of Gaddafi’s terror. NATO and our allies should look at establishing a no-fly zone so Libyan air forces cannot continue slaughtering the Libyan people.

While reportedly taking her advice on the no-fly zone, Obama hasn't really spoken out so much for the people of Libya as he has tip-toed around the issue for days.

Brad Wilmouth at Newsbusters reported on Friday, that the Libyans who are standing up to Gaddafi in protest, are seeking a "strong message" from the president:
On Friday’s NBC Nightly News, during a report which focused on a group of Libyans helping to organize protests against dictator Muammar Qadhafi, correspondent Richard Engel gave viewers a glimpse into oppressed people looking to America for support as he concluded his report by relating that these protesters "have been waiting for a strong message from Washington." He also recounted that he had seen graffiti at the rebel headquarters calling on President Obama to "choose between the Libyan people or Qadhafi."

I wouldn't hold my breath, for anything "strong" from this administration.

Outside of the snarky tone of most of this post, I want people to understand the seriousness of the situation in Libya. Muammar Gaddafi has a big arsenal, including a large stockpile of mustard gas. He has shown a willingness to slaughter his enemies throughout history, and in recent days, his own citizens. Setting up a no-fly zone would disable Gaddafi's ability to gas the people of Libya, and perhaps save thousands of lives. Time is crucial, but the Obama administration has been behaving as though they have all the time in the world to deal with this problem. They don't. Throughout the last two years, they have proven themselves to be incompetent on all things regarding foreign policy. Now is the time for this administration to take the training-wheels off, grow up, and act like world leaders... If not for the sake of this nation, then perhaps for the people of Libya.

Enuff is Enuff; TEXT 4PALIN to 74679

The Obama 2012 re-election campaign has started.

Last month (using homicide to rally his base) Barack Hussein Obama completely ignored that people had died and held a Murder Rally to unveil his 2012 campaign slogan: Together we Thrive. The President lectured a hand picked college crowd of constituents complete with hoots and hollers, applause, and refreshments.

Branding the Tucson tragedy; Obama and his advisers even handed out souvenir T-Shirts to his newly energized base.

Today in Rhode Island the Obama re-election campaign continued. Using civility and the new tone Obama lectured us about; his supporters yelled "I'll F**K YOU IN THE A** FA**OT!" to concerned citizens who are standing up to Obama's bussed in Union thugs who are violently attempting to nullify November's election and suck more money from the taxpayers.

Yesterday outside of the Freedom Works offices in DC the Obama re-election campaign showed even more civility.

Conservative activist Tabitha Hale was assaulted by one of Obama's union goons. The 5'1" female in a dress was violated and shoved by a 50ish Obama supporter.

Last week Obama's civility and new tone even caused Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker to end a legislative session due to death threats from Obama supporters.

Masks are coming off. The Hope & Change Goons are out in full display these days.

AFL-CIO President Richard (Dick) Trumka arrogantly bragged to reporters about his disturbing domination and alignment in Obama's White House. Shockingly, Trumka (Dick) boasts that he is in the White House 2-3 times a week and talks to the administration EVERYDAY.

By contrast MSLSD MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell reported the "fact there were half a dozen Cabinet members who had not heard from the president personally, had not gotten an phone call from the president or had an opportunity meet one-on-one him in the first two years."

Hmmm. What's going on gals/guys?

What's going on is that the Obama team needs the money from Union dues to finance their propaganda and to threaten and buy politicians and votes.

So what are we gonna do about it?

The first thing to do is to seriously consider who has the cojones to stand up to Obama and call out his lawless gangsta government in 2012.

Romney? Gingrich? Huckabee? Pawlently? Huntsman? Thune? Santorum? Trump? Daniels?

None of these boys have the cojones, or the sheer guts to call it as it is and not hold back punches for fear of the predictable LSM retaliation.

Make no mistake my friends. When the 2012 campaigns officially start anyone...ANYONE who calls out Obama will repeatedly be called: RAAACIST, divisive, mean-spirited, violent, crazy, and un-electable.

Do you trust any of those boys to be willing to put it all on the line and tell the truth about Obama and the state of our union today?

Do you trust any of them to take off their gloves, roll up their sleeves, and aggressively go head to head with Obama and defend the American way?

Deep down you all know that every single one of those boys will cave under media pressure and censor their message for fear of being called: RAAACIST, divisive, mean-spirited, violent, crazy, and un-electable.

There is and always has been only one leader who has consistently stood up for what is right, what is true, and taken the darts and arrows for daring to speak out about what Obama is doing to our Country.

Together we can help Sarah Palin show the electorate that there is more than enough reason to have faith in America.

The aloof, detached, and alien Obama presidency has been a moment of darkness for our country. Barack Obama has shown that America is a country he prefers to run down rather than build up.

I have had enough and I know that you have too.

Today there are two things you can do to get started on the RESTORATION of America:

1. On your cell phone text: 4PALIN to 74679

2. Make sure you are signed up for updates and alerts from Organize4Palin. To register & get involved: CLICK HERE

Let's help Sarah Palin get America back to the time tested truths that made this country great.

It's going to be a long two years.

Our republic has been through challenging times before and together we will face them head on and we will come out stronger, freer, and better.

Sarah Palin rumor du jour

- by Josh Painter
*
When a a gossip site says it is connecting the dots, look out for stretches of the imagination:
HollywoodLife.com has learned that Palin has booked an appearance in April on The Bob and Mark Show on 106.5 KWHL-FM in Anchorage. Sarah has said all along — including on the final episode of her TLC show Sarah Palin’s Alaska — that she would announce her candidacy on the radio via Bob and Mark.

While the exact date hasn’t been confirmed, we’re told that with Sarah’s schedule, her appearance on the show — especially booked so far in advance — can mean only one thing: That she’ll be kicking off her campaign on the radio.
Well, actually it could mean any one of a number of things. Of course, it's possible that this speculation could be be right. Even your great grandfather's broken pocket watch is right twice a day. But gossip sites are notoriously poor sources of information, especially where Gov. Palin is concerned. Remember how Us Weekly was so easily duped by the satirical Palin-Aguilera piece just a couple of weeks ago? But then again, TIME magazine proved itself to be no more reliable a journalistic source than the average gossip site, as it also fell for a hoax that a couple of minutes with a search engine would have exposed.

Plus, Gov. Palin doesn't need to book an appearance on Bob and Mark ahead of time. When she calls, they put her on the air immediately, regardless of how full their plate may be. Yes, the governor did indeed say that if and when she announces, it will be on that KWHL program, and yes, April would be a good time to announce either a run for president or the formation of an exploratory committee to consider such a candidacy. But we wouldn't bet the ranch on anything that comes from Hollywood Lite... er, Hollywood Life.

How Ronald Reagan Handled Libya

By Gary P Jackson

Ronald Reagan addressed the nation from the Oval Office April 14, 1986 and announced the results of an air strike on Libya, after the bombing of a Berlin discotheque that was a favorite of American service men.

Reagan didn't fool around with Gadaffi. He acted swiftly to send a message.

Here's the time line of the events and how Reagan reacted:

Operation El Dorado Canyon

******************************

On April 5, 1986, a bomb exploded in a discotheque in Berlin frequented by United States service personnel. Of the 200 injured, 63 were American soldiers; one soldier and one civilian were killed.

————————–

On the late evening of 15 April and early morning of 16 April 1986, under the code name El Dorado Canyon, the United States launched a series of military air strikes against ground targets inside Libya.

It is the purpose behind the mission…a mission fully consistent with Article 51 of the U.N. Charter

————————————————-

Gadaffi ordering an attack on Americans "to cause maximum and indiscriminate casualties." Another communications source, an intercepted Libyan message outlined the attack being planned in West Berlin

—————————–

All except one of these targets were chosen because of their direct connection to terrorist activity. The single exception was the Benina military airfield which based Libyan fighter aircraft. This target was hit to preempt Libyan interceptors from taking off and attacking the incoming US bombers. It should also be noted that the French Embassy in Tripoli and several of the neighboring residential buildings also were bombed inadvertently during the raid; they were not targeted.

———————————-

Mission planners decided, as part of the effort to attain tactical surprise, to hit all five targets simultaneously. This decision had crucial impact on nearly every aspect of the operation since it meant that the available US Navy resources could not perform the mission unilaterally. The only two types of aircraft in the US inventory capable of conducting a precision night attack were the Navy’s A-6s and the Air Force’s F-111s.

The Navy had two aircraft carriers in the Mediterranean at the time planning for the raid: The America and The Coral Sea. Each had ten A-6 aircraft, but these were not the total of 32 aircraft estimated as required to successfully hit all five targets with one raid. The closest F-111s were based in the United Kingdom (UK); and use of these UK based aircraft dramatically affected the scope and complexity of the operation.

Planning was even further compounded when the French refused to grant authority to overfly France. This refusal increased the distance of the flight route from Great Britain to Tripoli by about 1300 nautical miles each way, added 6-7 hours of flight time for the pilots and crews, and forced a tremendous amount of additional refueling support from tanker aircraft.

—————————————

The size of the strike force’s final configuration was immense and complex. Approximately 100 aircraft were launched in direct support of the raid:

========================================

Air Force

28 KC-10 and KC-135 tankers

5 EF-111 Raven ECM (Electronic Countermeasure) aircraft

————–

Navy

14 A-6E strike aircraft

12 A-7E and F/A-18 Electronic warfare and jamming aircraft which undertook air defense suppression for the mission

Several F-14 Tomcats which took up the long range Combat Air Patrol (CAP) responsibilities

4 E-2C Hawkeye airborne command and control and warning aircraft

==========

The actual combat commenced at 0200 (local Libyan time), lasted less than 12 minutes, and dropped 60 tons of munitions. Resistance outside the immediate area of attack was nonexistent, and Libyan air defense aircraft never launched. One FB-111 strike aircraft was lost during the strike. The entire armada remained in the vicinity for over an hour trying to account for all aircraft.

As stated above, the French refused to allow the United States access to their airspace, which resulted in an additional 2300 miles of travel to and from the targets, caused extra in-flight refuelings, and the loss of one strike fighter and her crew. No doubt due to fatigue, our boys accidentally dropped a bomb on the French embassy in Tripoli. Oops.

Iron Dogs Palin & Quam Bracketing 1st - 3rd Places Leaving Nome

Gov. Palin in Nome to Support Husband

Four-time Iron Dog Champion Todd Palin and Eric Quam are bracketing between first and third places as they leave Nome, the halfway point in the 2,028 mile race. Out of 30 teams, 17 remain in the race with 13 scratches - three of those before the race even began.

Photo by Tim Akimoff - KTUU / February 23, 2011. [Gov.] Sarah Palin showed up in Nome, Alaska to cheer for husband Todd Palin and his efforts to win a fifth Iron Dog race.

Gov. Palin was in Nome as part of a family tradition to support her husband, KTUU's Tim Akimoff reported overnight. "At the Iron Dog, a race from Anchorage to Fairbanks with a stop in Nome, where average speeds can approach 80 mph on ice-covered rivers in Alaska's remote Interior, spousal support means trekking to Nome for the halfway festivities -- sometimes with snowmachine parts in hand," Akimoff wrote. The Palin family will road trip to Fairbanks, where the race concludes.

"It's their thing...They're in their element out there....[It] takes a different breed of cat to be out there in this...They're out there and it's 70 below sometimes, pitch black and they're on a frozen river fixing a sled...I look at the life lessons in this raceThey will do anything to help each other out, but they have an extremely healthy competition with each other...I think these guys are the toughest men on the planet. Girly men don't ride the Iron Dog," Gov. Palin said.

Within a week following an Iron Dog, racers are planning for the following year's race, Akimoff reported.

Which version of Sarah Palin are you going to believe?

If you didn't know it, you'd think there are two Sarah Palins. The first one is a vindictive dumbbell who doesn’t know that Africa is a continent. The other Sarah Palin, the real Sarah Palin, is a self made woman who is happily married, has raised five children, has been a mayor, an oil commissioner and a governor, has written two best selling books and is a millionaire. One is a caricature drawn from the minds of the Palin deranged. The other is uncut and unfiltered. Which one are you going to believe?

Desperate liberals see the writing on the wall. They see public employee unions being stopped dead in their tracks – the days of fattening themselves on taxpayer dollars drying up as quickly as the money. They see Americans embracing conservative values again. They see the real Sarah Palin and it scares them to death. That's why they can't let the rest of us see her. That's why it is imperative that they get the voters to see their version of Sarah Palin.

The media and the Alaska bloggers have been wasting their time and resources trying to dig up dirt on the fake Sarah Palin, which they present to the American people in place of the real Sarah Palin. It's dog chases tail syndrome. In their obsession to destroy her, they have filed dozens of frivolous ethics complaints, written thousands of hit pieces and alleged all kinds of wrong-doing. After all that, they have nothing but a caricature.

The Sarah Palin caricature they have been selling us is the one getting her butt kicked in the polls.
Asked about her low poll numbers — a recent Gallup poll showed that over half of Americans viewed her unfavorably — Palin audibly sighed. “Yeah,” she said, later adding, “I get my butt kicked.”

“I look at those poll numbers and I say well, if I’m going to do this, then obviously I got to get out there and let people know who I am, what I stand for, and what my record is. I can’t rely on a liberal-leaning press,” she said.
This is because the real Sarah Palin has not yet re-introduced herself to the American people. The Left trembles in fear as they await the moment when the brakes lock and they skid helplessly as she announces her candidacy for president and millions of her supporters pour out of the woodwork. They will become their own caricatures, alien creatures grabbing their heads, screaming out like a cartoon character in Pink Floyd’s “The Wall.”

The media frenzy will begin. The major newspapers, networks and websites will light up with Palin-mania. Twitter and Facebook will be stretched to capacity as the chatter begins in earnest.

Then, they will try to sell us on the first Sarah Palin again and again. They will be selling us the fake Sarah Palin all the way through her second presidential term if they have to. They will not give up their Sisypheian efforts to stop her. But resistance may be futile once the real Sarah Palin hits the debate stages, the streets and the diners that make up the presidential campaign trail.

Frank Bailey's and Jeanne Devon’s manuscript suggests without evidence that Sarah Palin broke some kind of campaign finance law and contradicted her Troopergate testimony, or something like that. I don't know. Maybe she knocked off a liquor store, too (but they decided not to use that one in this manuscript). As Ian Lazaran at Conservatives4Palin points out:
Nobody in the media has conceded that Bailey has failed to produce even one e-mail that the Governor allegedly wrote that would implicate her in any wrongdoing when it comes to the RGA ad or would directly contradict any statement that she made under oath in the Troopergate saga. The media is shamelessly allowing Bailey and an extremist like Jeanne Devon to get away with claiming that they have thousands of e-mails from Governor Palin without also noting that none of the e-mails prove that she ever engaged in any improper or illegal activity.

The media has also failed to note that all of the e-mails that Bailey claims to have received from Governor Palin have yet to be authenticated. Remember that Bailey admits to having access to her e-mail account and knew the password that she used to get into her account.

Because he doesn’t have any e-mails that prove the Governor engaged in unethical conduct, Bailey resorts to using e-mails that she allegedly wrote to slam her character, intelligence, and competence.
They have tried everything they possibly could to destroy the real Sarah Palin. Yes, alleging what they are alleging, they are telling us that they have exhausted all means available to stifle Palin’s political speech and now all they got left are false criminal allegations. It’s called totalitarianism, folks. They want to railroad her.

Don’t sweat it, though. Although the fake Sarah Palin is still taking the hits in the polls and in the liberal media, the real Sarah Palin always trumps. When the real Sarah Palin spoke directly to business owners on Long Island, they liked her. Check out these video clips. One attendee said (at the 1:40 mark):
Nobody took their eye off of her. They listened to her every word. They were appreciative about a lot of the things she said. And they connected. And she connected.
The moderator, Kenneth Law, a Democrat, said "I think the Long Island business community walked away probably feeling better about her than before they walked in the door." (2:00 mark of the ABC video. )

When the real Sarah Palin walked past the fake one on Saturday Night live in 2008, the ratings went up. When the real Sarah Palin debated Joe Biden, she beat him. The real Sarah Palin got 5 million people to watch the premiere Episode of "Sarah Palin's Alaska." The real Sarah Palin electrified the crowd at the 2008 Republican National Convention. In fact, that was why they invented the fake Palin in the first place.

At some point, even those who dislike Sarah Palin are going to get sick of the lying Left. It's one thing to preach to the choir and feed them red meat. It's another to lie to the choir and feed them bad meat.

There is only one real Sarah Palin. You either agree with her or disagree with her. Everything else is BS.

Here’s to Libya’s Freedom

Governor Palin today posted on Facebook:

It’s a little perplexing looking at the White House today. There was a statement on the horrible earthquake in New Zealand, and certainly our hearts go out to all those affected by this horrible natural disaster. But nothing on the slaughter in Libya? The protests in many places in the Middle East affect regimes that have cooperated with the U.S. on issues from peace with Israel, fighting al Qaeda, hosting our military forces, or cooperating against Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Gaddafi’s Libya is different. For four decades, this tyrant has held power. Gaddafi was Osama before Osama hit the scene. He ordered the bombing of a disco in Germany to kill Americans. When he paid the price for that – after President Reagan rightly ordered retaliation – he directed his agents to blow up Pan Am Flight 103. They did, and more than 250 innocent people died. Gaddafi tried to come in from the cold in 2003 – scared by the demonstration effect of Iraq. But we should have no illusions. Gaddafi is a brutal killer and Libya – not to mention the world – would be better off if he were out of power. Now is the time to speak out. Speak out for the long-suffering Libyan people. Speak out for the victims of Gaddafi’s terror. NATO and our allies should look at establishing a no-fly zone so Libyan air forces cannot continue slaughtering the Libyan people. We should not be afraid of freedom, especially when it comes to people suffering under a brutal enemy of America. Here’s to freedom from Gaddafi for the people of Libya.

NY Times invents Palin 'enthusiasm' for birtherism

- by Josh Painter
*
NRO's Matthew Shaffer catches the New York Times grossly distorting Gov. Palin's take on birtherism:
Yesterday, the editors of the New York Times wrote:
Yes, Sarah Palin, who was an enthusiastic “birther,” has decided that the supposed issue of Mr. Obama’s citizenship is, as she put it the other day, “a distraction.”
The editors imply that Sarah Palin was backtracking from prior birther advocacy during her speech on Long Island on Thursday, in which she said, “It’s distracting. It gets annoying. Let’s stick with what really matters.”
But, as Shaffer points out, Gov. Palin's previous comment on the birther issue, in a December 3, 2009 appearance on the Rusty Humphries show, was hardly "enthusiastic" support for the birthers:
Humphries: Sarah Palin here on the Rusty Humphries Show. One of the questions Jason asks is would you make the birth certificate an issue if you ran?

Palin: I think the public rightly is still making it an issue. I don’t have a problem with that. I don’t know if I would have to bothered to make it an issue because I think there are enough members of the electorate that still want answers.

Humphries: Do you think it’s a fair question to be looking at?...

Palin: I think it’s a fair question just like I think past associations and past voting records. All of that is fair game.
The day after the Humphries interview, Sarah Palin made it clear that she's no birther in this Facebook note:
"Voters have every right to ask candidates for information if they so choose. I’ve pointed out that it was seemingly fair game during the 2008 election for many on the left to badger my doctor and lawyer for proof that Trig is in fact my child. Conspiracy-minded reporters and voters had a right to ask... which they have repeatedly. But at no point – not during the campaign, and not during recent interviews – have I asked the president to produce his birth certificate or suggested that he was not born in the United States."
So where, exactly is the "enthusiasm" for the birthers' claims that the Times attributed to Gov. Palin? The New York Times has never let actual facts on the record get in the way of promoting the leftist narrative. The Times is not "the paper of record." It's the paper of lies and distortion.

Jedediah Bila on Palin in Long Island: "Spunky, Real, Forthright"

In the Human Events exclusive Sarah Palin Makes a Splash on Long Island, Manhattan-based conservative columnist Jedediah Bila provides a comprehensive first-hand account of Governor Palin's speech delivered to the Long Island Association (LIA) last Thursday. Bila wrote:
"She was relaxed, but spunky. She was real. She was armed with stats. She was unapologetic about her convictions. She was tough on President Obama’s agenda. She was fed up with the status quo. She was “sick and tired of the games that are being played in Washington, D.C., because we’re talking about our money, we’re talking about our kids’ future, we’re talking about our republic and the solvency of our republic.” She was willing to laugh at herself. She was confident about her experience.

And yes—she was wearing leopard heels."
During the 63-minute question and answer session Gov. Palin addressed "gun control, energy independence, health care, entitlements, Obama’s budget, the debt ceiling, the Tea Party, protests in Egypt," and whether she would run for President in 2012. In concluding her coverage, Bila wrote about the qualities that make Gov. Palin shine as a 2012 Presidential hopeful. Gov. Palin's charm originates with her self-confidence. Governor Palin on the Issues: Israel

In recent weeks, America's relationship with our ally, Israel, has come into focus once again. As the Obama administration has failed to coalesce around a coherent strategy with regards to recent protests in Egypt, the potential for a group like the Muslim Brotherhood to become involved in Egypt's new government is particularly worrisome. To call the Muslim Brotherhood anti-Israel would be an understatement and to see them as a group without a religious/political agenda would be foolish, yet President Obama's own Director of National Intelligence referred to the Muslim Brotherhood as "largely secular". Additionally, our UN ambassador was poised to vote to rebuke of Israel for building settlements on the West Bank before vetoing such a proposal. However, Ambassador Rice stated that the veto should not be, " seen as an endorsement of Israel's settlement policies, which the Obama administration has repeatedly denounced". This extremely poor treatment of Israel is sadly commonplace in the Obama administration. On two occasions, President Obama did not allow cameras into meetings with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. During one of those meetings in March 2010, President Obama abandoned Netanyahu during tough talks regarding Israeli settlements to have dinner with his family. Additionally, during a visit to Israel,as a response to Israel's announcement of further settlement construction Vice President Joe Biden arrived an hour and a half late to a dinner with the Israeli Prime Minister as a disapproving response to Israel's announcement of further settlement construction. Suffice it to say, the Obama administration's approach to its relationship to America's ally, Israel, has been weak, misguided, and immature.

Contrast the Obama administration's approach with Governor Palin's stance on Israel. Governor Palin's support for Israel is not only found on her lapel, it is found in nearly every speech she gives and every foreign policy related answers to interview questions and is a consistent mention in her Facebook posts. Most recently, Governor Palin has emphasized the importance of remembering Israel in discussion of Egypt's new government. She did so in her question and answer session at the Long Island Association on Friday. In a recent interview with Sean Hannity, she also discussed the Muslim Brotherhood's potential effect on Israel if it is involved in Egypt's new government:

Governor Palin recognizes that it is imperative for America to stand with Israel when Egypt, an ally of Israel, has the potential to be led by a group with an anti-Israel agenda. Governor Palin's support for Israel goes far beyond these recent comments about events in Egypt, however. She has stood with Israel in their relationships with Iran and Palestine.

Governor Palin has been critical of the Obama administration's appeasement mentality towards America's enemies coupled with poor treatment of Israel with regards to Israeli-Palestinian relationships. She called for a reset with Israel in a Facebook post last March:
In the midst of all this embracing of enemies, where does the Obama Administration choose to escalate a minor incident into a major diplomatic confrontation? With Iran, Cuba, Sudan, North Korea or Burma? No. With our treasured ally, Israel.

...

Once again, the Obama Administration is missing the boat on a very, very important issue. They need to go back to the basics and acknowledge Palestinian leaders have not progressed any peace process since President Obama was elected. As Israel makes concessions (and is still criticized by the Obama Administration), Arab leaders are just sitting back waiting for the White House to further pressure Israel. The Obama Administration needs to open its eyes and recognize that it is only Iran and her terrorist allies that benefit from this manufactured Israeli controversy. Vice President Biden was actually right when he said last week, before the construction announcement, that “one necessary precondition for progress is that the rest of the world knows...there is absolutely no space between the United States and Israel when it comes to security.” Right now, thanks to the Obama Administration, there is a chasm. It’s time for President Obama to push the reset button on our relations with our ally Israel.
In addition to addressing Israeli-Palestinian relationships, Governor Palin emphasized the importance in standing with Israel against the threat of Iran. In another post last March, Governor Palin called for the Obama administration to impose tougher sanctions on Iran and to exhibit more friendly interactions with Israel:
Public demands for concessions have been made of the Israelis while the Palestinians add ever more conditions to their participation in peace talks, and those in the administration that dare to argue for looking at these policies through the lens of Israel’s security needs are subject to slanderous attacks from “senior administration officials.” The Obama administration has their priorities exactly backwards; we should be working with our friend and democratic ally to stop Iran’s nuclear program, not throwing in the towel on sanctions while treating Israel like an enemy.
She would reiterate this criticism of Iran's potential to develop nuclear weaponry and the subsequent effect on Israel in an op-ed in USA Today this past December.

Beyond strong stances against Palestine and Iran specifically, Governor Palin has stood with Israel on many other occasions, including strong pro-Israel statements during a foreign policy focused speech last summer where she called Israel "our most important ally in the Middle East". She called for President Obama to stand with Israel last summer when more than 10 Israeli soldiers were injured trying to stop Turkish supported Flotillas aimed at provoking Israel. When discussing an endorsement of now Senator Rand Paul, Governor Palin asked about his view of Israel--indicating that a pro-Israel stance is a valuable issue in an endorsee. In a letter to recently elected House members, Governor Palin encouraged new House members to strongly support Israel stating,"[y]ou can stand with allies like Israel, not criticize them. You can let the President know what you believe – Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, not a settlement". Such a statement shows her consistency in her firm support for Israel, as she stated in an interview with Barbara Walters in 2009 and her stance during the VP debate 2008 campaign. On multiple occasions, both during her time as Governor and following, Governor Palin has shared holiday wishes to the Jewish community. It's no wonder more Jewish Americans are supporting Governor Palin. While President Obama sees "bowtowing" to our enemies and ailenating our allies as an effective foreign policy strategy, Governor Palin has just the opposite approach--standing with Israel and against her enemies.

Other "Governor Palin on the Issues" posts have addressed monetary policy, entitlement reform, energy independence, and energy regulation.
